Claryville is a Dry Town, no alcohol is sold anywhere in town.
Lots of people don’t know this before their first time there, so plan accordingly.
I don’t know how the law covers consumption of any alcohol.

We called ahead for a tour of the mansion. They were very helpful and set the time and date that we wanted. We enjoyed the tour guide who gave us a full history of the mansion and the people who first built it. It is amazing all the woodwork and details that went into this structure. They just celebrated 100 years in Frost Valley. Totally enjoyable place and the staff friendly. Recommended a nice lunch place just 7 miles away and that was special as well.

Frost Valley is very picturesque and a beautiful place to stay. Frost Valley YMCA includes a few types of accommodations besides Strauss Center. Do not miss the monumental Frost Valley's Forstmann Castle.

I have the nicest people in my business staying at Frost Valley. they come in the town of Phoeniciais to patronize the business which is a lot more than I can for some camps Which is known to badger all of the bussiness.Frost valley quests are just looking for fun things to and eat ice cream at the ice cream station ,tube stream,shop the shops then hit Hey happy 4th of July! Got your message but not the tag about the story drugstore opening, so what's happening with it?🐾🐩

As a child most of my happiest memories is from the straus house. We stayed here every summer for about 5 years. Great place to stay with kids

We were part of a group of family and friends attending a wedding in Claryville, and staying at the Straus House. The place is really very comfortable, with linens, towels, and soap furnished, and plentiful if simple meals, including vegetarian options. (We had only breakfasts and lunches.) Cereal and milk, fruit, and coffee and tea are constantly available. The bedrooms, up a flight of stairs, have various combinations of double, single, and bunk beds, and private bathrooms with shower. The rooms lock from the inside only. Comfortable, homey public rooms. Nice areas to roam, including hiking trails, but even walking down the road was good. VERY helpful and friendly staff. There is wi-fi but no cell phone reception.

We spent the weekend at the Frost Valley YMCA as part of a group attending the Bil Krauss Music Weekend (which I also highly recommend !). We stayed in the Lakeview Lodge which is a very up to date building overlooking the lake (hence the name). Our room had two queen beds and a private bath. It was very clean and comfortable. This building also has internet access and a common room with couches, fireplace and coffee machine. (there is no cellphone reception and no TV's which I saw as a PLUS but others may not)
There are other less expensive housing options available ... cabins, lodges, etc which mostly have bunk beds.
We ate all our meals in the dining hall. The food was good and much better than you would expect from this type of facility. There were always vegetarian options available.
The grounds are just gorgeous and we had the opportunity to participate in activities such as archery, zip line, mountain boarding, hikes and a hay ride. The YMCA also provided wood for our bonfire which we enjoyed on both evenings.
Highly recommended for any group gatherings.

They rent ski equipment on the weekends. Beautiful groomed trails. There is an easy trail for beginners available.

Just returned from nearly a week staying at the Straus Center for a hiking program. The Center is quite comfortable. The public areas are warm and homey. The bedrooms, while on the small side, had private bathrooms which were on the large side. The meals were quite good and plentiful. The director of the Center is very detail oriented so he is eager for comment, and to take corrective action as needed.

My family got together last summer for a reunion weekend at the Straus Center at the Frost Valley YMCA. Once a summer home of the Guggenheim-Straus family, the house is rich in history, simple, comfortable, and just plain beautiful! Remote yet only 2 hours from NYC - we felt like we were in the middle of a primevil forest. There are miles of hiking trails. We sat for hours on the deck overlooking the Neversink River. My father took the kids fly fishing; we played croquet on the beautiful lawn. The food was incredible and plentiful!! Best of all, we had the place to ourselves. It was like having our own home in the country. Very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this center to any families or groups of friends. I belive they have room for only about 25 people. I know they offer other kinds of programs but we loved being blissfully UNDER-programmed for a few days. No cell phone reception, no internet, no television - we enjoyed each other so much in this truly comfortable setting.

How are meals provided for a large group of 15? Can you bring your own food, too? Is there a kitchen provided?
There are 5 seniors in our group and bunk beds will not work. Please describe your beds, bathrooms, etc since we are not know anyone who has recommended your center. What activities are available?
