First, I had a really enjoyable massage by a very skilled masseuse that left me feeling pampered and relaxed. The hotel, its sea views, and the massage room were all beautiful, luxurious, and serene. The foot wash/scrub at the beginning was divine. The massage bed was very high end. Following the massage, there was a delicious ginger tea. Prices ($160 for a 90 minute hot stone massage) were very reasonable given the venue and the level of training that was evident in the masseuse.
So why three stars? I’m grading harder as the Park Hyatt is the premiere luxury resort in Zanzibar, and details matter at this level.
First, booking was challenging. The website has no spa menu or price list, and contacting Hyatt’s online chat assistant only provided me with a non-functioning email address. (Heads up, corporate: zanzibar.park.hyatt@hyatt.com does not exist, and you should really have the spa menu on the website, not just a shady option asking for our details and promising us a price later.)
Later, I walked to the front desk and asked for a spa menu. Twenty minutes later(!) after the attendant realized that I was correct, and that the spa menu was not in fact on their website, and unsuccessfully checking all drawers, the front desk employee finally found a saved file he was able to print out for me. (Heads up corporate: Have spa menus printed out and ready to go.)
I asked if he was able to check the availability for tomorrow; he said yes, then apparently realized he couldn’t, so he sent another staff member to escort me up to the spa. Though it was 19:30 and the spa closes at 20:00, there was no one around. I left a note with my email and Whatsapp. After I’d gone to bed, I received a Whatsapp at around 22:20 (two hours after the spa closed?) saying they did have availability. I was able to book a hot stone massage for the next day.
I’ve had dozens of hot stone massages around the world, and typically they’re paired with a Swedish massage, as it enables you to do the long smooth strokes with the stones in hand. Again, just to caveat, the massage was great, it just wasn’t what I’d expect from a hot stone massage. Instead, it was about 60% deep tissue (no stone use; though fortunately not painful pressure like with a Thai massage), 20% pure Swedish, and 20% hot stone/Swedish. The stones, I thought, were underutilized, though pleasantly hot. (Many places really offer luke warm stones.)
The best hot stone massages use both stones in hand and then have a hot stone on or under every major muscle not being massaged at the moment. There /was/ some of that, but it wasn’t for the majority of the massage. (Note to corporate: revamp the structure of your hot stone massage.)
The masseuse never introduced herself, and though there was a small stereo on the floor, there was no spa music or an ask as to my preference on silence/music. Halfway through the massage (still on my stomach) I had to ask for a rolled up towel under my increasingly painful ankles, and for the angle of the face area to be lowered as my neck was cramping. I definitely agree it’s important for the client to proactively communicate, but it’s also important for the masseuse to periodically check on the client’s comfort.
So yes, you should get spa services here, but be prepared for many of the details you’d expect from a high end hotel just not to be present.

Best Thai massage of my life. Truly a magical experience. Although I forgot my therapist's name, my only regret is that I don't live close and cannot visit her again. The white clothing was so soft and I felt so relaxed. I wish I stayed longer to visit the spa more than once!

Just had the most amazing spa treatment at The Spa at Park Hyatt Zanzibar. Renaly the attentive masseuse, has the Midas touch. The Fathers Day Special left me absolutely relaxed yet revitalised. Having methodically attended to all the tension and knots in my neck, back and shoulders, even my scalp I am rejuvenated. Thank you to Renaly and The Spa at Park Hyatt Zanzibar, I would recommend their fantastic service.

I visited the spa on my last day, as a treat to myself before returning to the reality of world, and I'm so glad I did!
I opted for a long session which included a full body massage, time for a foot massage and neck & shoulders - and I left feeling completely rejuvenated.
Renaly is little but strong! She was so friendly and helpful in helping me decide what type of therapy to opt for, and her hands are magic!
The spa itself is very calm and serene. Do make sure you have time after your session to relax on the outdoor deck with some tea .

Well after staying at the above hotel and checked out to go to the other side of Zanzibar for a couple of days. We decided to come back to Park Hyatt for and week and make it our main base and just hire a car and visit other areas of Zanzibar and come back day end. Reason for that is because we felt at home at Park Hyatt. The staff were just unbelievably just nice people who love what they do for a living. A team well committed to park Hyatt. I could write a long letter about them and I appreciate every single one of them. The smiles behind the masks gives you the assurance that you are in safe hands. I wish to mention a few staffs names who really helped us with everything we need to know about the hotel and touristic places to visit; Antonin, Muhudin, Taryn, Fauzi, and ofcos the lady who served us during our stay, Edna (Exceptional service from her). I thank you all. We will definitely visit again soon.

So relaxing after a week packed with work! All clean and calm and just ... great. The massages were really hard work for Renaly and her team, but very helpful for me to come down and relax. If special issues or just a relaxing massage - I can highly recommend it!
