Amazing experience get ready for some stairs. Very well presented self guided tour, numbers limited so you felt you had areas to yourself.

Amazing stalacites formation and history. The children (5, 7 year old) were able to climb up / down the steps independently. There was a kids tunnel near the cave entry where the kids had some fun.

I have been to caves that are a hundred times bigger but this cave gives me a nice experience. It is well and subtly lighted so you get a natural experience. It is well designed so you feel safe. There is a guide at the deep end of the cave. He/she can show you Yoda, Jabba the Hutt, Chris Urwin and Croc, etc.

Ngilgi Cave self tour was the best cave we have ever explored. The path was easy to follow and the subtle lighting was perfect. All the guides were friendly and very informative, especially Dan at the bottom of the cave. Definitely worth every penny. Huge cave and an awesome sight at every turn.

There are many beautiful caves in this region but this cave gives the full experience in terms of the types of formations and also the geniuine cave experience (watch your head). The kids loved the ‘kids crawl through’. A lot of work has been done to create an informative walk to the cave entrance, and also the kids playground.

At $32 full price or $30 concession this venue is much too expensive for local Western Australian residents and families. Neither we, nor our friends, were prepared to spend this amount.

Having heard about the caves when staying in the area, we decided to book the 'self guided' tour. The tour can last as long as you wish and it took us around 90mins.
It was truly spectacular is the best way to describe these caves. If you have mobility issues the steps and the width of some of the pathways may cause some difficulties, but in general its fine.
There are staff spread around both inside and out. We found them to be really knowledgeable and keen to help out and answer any questions.
Well worth the drive and thoroughly recommended.

What an absolute delight. Was not originally on our radar for the trip, however, glad we made the decision. Well run, great staff with clear direction and very safe (remember to duck occasionally). Spectacular views inside, with well devised walkways. So happy we did this.

It’s a really beautiful cave! we booked the first session in the morning so it was nice and quite. my kids (6&3 yrs old) were scared at first but then they eventually enjoyed it. definitely a memorable adventure. there were lots of stairs and some tight spaces. I keep telling myself, if much older people can do this, so can we 😂

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience visiting Ngilgi Cave. After 5-10 minutes the kids tend to relax and marvel at the crystals. I hope you they enjoyed the kids tunnel and nature playground as well.

Hi, can I know more about the Ngilgi caves tours pls? We are 2 adults and a 11 yr old looking for the adventurous version (not the regular semi guided tour). Pls let us know what may be on offer. We are at Margaret River from Sunday 26th Mar to Thu 30th March so pls advise availabilities as well.
Thanks,

How long would you allow for this activity?
Escrita el 29 de septiembre de 2020
We would say around an hour. You go into the cave with a guide and they give a little talk at the start then you are free to explore at your own pace.

I have slight mobility issues and would like to know what it like walking through the cave. Are there steps and handrails?
Escrita el 26 de abril de 2018
There are many steps and staircases around the underground cave complex, which require you to bend to the left or right to avoid outcrops or overhanging ceilings or sidewalls. Coupled with dim lighting in places which makes for tricky navigation while you’re watching your head and your feet. It’s a beautiful and awe inspiring venue but may regrettably not make a visit easy if there’s mobility restrictions.

Do you have to book a ticket for the self guided tour or can you just turn up and pay and do it
Escrita el 29 de diciembre de 2017

I have a prosthetic leg. Can do stairs but slow and need to hold on - are there hand rails all the way?
Escrita el 6 de marzo de 2017
Yes. There are stairways the entire way. Though parts of it are fairly steep.

What do you get for the single entry fee of $22.50? Do you have to go on a tour to see the best bits of the cave?
Thanks
Claire
Escrita el 14 de enero de 2017
Yes you have to do the tour. They explanation the caves geology, the area and the history of the cave. well worth the $25.

is there alot of stairs for this cave? possible for an elderly and a toddler to complete the tour?
Escrita el 23 de septiembre de 2015
It really depends on how elderly and how good they are on their feet.... there is a lot of stairs (few hundred) and many are steep, plus you need to go down and back up. Toddlers would need some carrying. You could just go into the first section and not go deep down which would still be interesting. There is a fun option to go on a short slippery dip, probably more fun for the children not the eldery. :)
