This was my 2nd year in a row at the festival, and the festival was equally engaging and beautiful as the first time! Anyone visiting Cary during Nov to Jan, should and must visit the festival. At the festival they also have a performance by the artists from China, showcasing their folk art in form of dance/magic/acrobat and that is undoubtedly the showstopper act! On a chilly winter night the hot cocoa available in the food trucks is the additional attraction :)

This was a great experience. It was a beautiful display and larger than I expected. It was Latern displays but also Chinese music, dance, acrobatics, and karate demonstrations. There were a few vendors selling hot drinks, snacks, and tshirts. We enjoyed it. However, I will go at the beginning in early November next time. It was so cold I could hardly enjoy it. If cold doesn’t bother you than you will love it.

The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival was phenomenal! It was a unique experience and far from boring. My family and I had an amazing time viewing all the lights. We especially enjoyed the performers on the show they gave throughout our time there. On top of that, they had great vendors to enjoy a hot drink in the cold while eating delicious rice cakes. My children especially enjoyed the light up swings and stepping stones. So much, they wanted us to take another trip back! We will for sure keep this a family tradition and visit every year from here on out!

Delightful experience that was definitely worth the hours we took to travel there and back home! We had children with making for fun memories. One child went up on stage to participate in the martial art poses and many people came up to them afterwards to comment on their performance. The youngest child didn't know what cotton candy was initially, but caught on quickly, stuffing fistfuls of the wispy stuff into their mouth. We enjoyed all the performances and displays, together with various warm treats to combat the cool weather. Then we gathered with others to warm ourselves at the propane heat lamps.

I just returned from a girl's trip to Cary for the Chinese Lantern festival. I had been to one several years ago at the Stowe Botanical Gardens (near Charlotte) which I had really enjoyed. The one in Cary blew me away. Like several other reviewers, this may have to become an annual tradition even though it means an overnight stay for me.

We did the "twilight experience" where the gates open at 4:30 pm (vs. 6 pm) and the number of visitors is limited. We were through the security checkpoint in no time and had time to get the "lay of the land" while it was still light out. By the time we reached the displays that were furthest from the entrance it was full dark. We then looped back through the displays closer to the entrance to take photos with everything lit up. I would highly recommend this option - especialy if you want to take photos. By the time we left (around 6:15) the lines were long to get your bags checked and it was getting crowded.

I also recommend the "preferred" parking lot which is much closer to the Amphitheatre. We weren't sure whether or not that was included with our "Twilight Experience" but there wasn't anyone obvious to pay when we arrived around 4:30.

There was a dance/acrobatics show each hour starting at 5:30; we caught a portion of the show. But IMO, the real stars are the lanterns! They were fantastic

FYI weeknights there is just the Cafe and no food trucks, but that trade off seemed well worth it for the lighter crowds!

Received a notice in July to purchase any day tickets for upcoming Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth in Cary, NC. Only $25 dollars with summer purchase. Attended the 2022 Lantern Festival and enjoyed so much we decided to make it a holiday ritual. The Lantern displays are very beautiful and impressive. The entertainment was impressive as well. Highly recommend.

We visited the Chinese Lantern Festival again this year and I have to say, this might be a new tradition for us. We were supposed to go on New Years Day again, but I had sick kiddos, so we scrapped it and went a week later. I actually thought this year would be exactly the same and was pleasantly surprised they had different lanterns and different areas set up. Exciting that it changes yearly. Again, we made an evening out of it...exploring, eating at the food trucks, enjoying the on-stage performances and all they had to offer. A fantastic reason to get outside with your family!

This event was “much bigger and better than I thought it would be!” Amazing colors and lights create a totally immersive experience. Very creative and imaginative lanterns, themes, lighting and fabrics used to create the lanterns. Several clever interactive stations such as smoke bubbles, smoke ring cannon and a kaleidoscope tunnel that makes you think you’re tilting.
There’s Chinese lanterns of all kinds of themes, from dragons and peacocks and huge gates to playful pandas and even dinosaurs…truly something of wonder for every age.
Excellent snacks…make sure to get the freshly made donut holes!
Cool souvenirs that are reasonably priced.
Great parking that’s close and included in the ticket price. Excellent traffic control.

WOW! This is such a fantastic experience and so great for kids. I wish I had known and we would have been going every year. We easily spent 3 hours out here admiring all of the beautiful lanterns. We were able to get an "early" ticket to get in with the kids and then hung around until after dark. It was a really unseasonably warm day and a rain shower blew through drenching us all, but it was all fun! I will be back!

COVID protocols are what I base this review on.

As we stood in line with 100 people, and no social distancing, I repeatedly saw staff instruct attendees to return what the considered not-parenting-bags to their vehicles. I heard a lot of two words instructions regarding bags and moving the line forward.

But there were no observable COVID protocols at all.

For example:
- no distancing in line
- no staggered entry into the festival (there are several spots that are always popular for photos and this would help prevent huge groups of people from being in the same place at the same time)
- no mask requirement or request even inside the restrooms
- no distancing for performances, concession lines or children play areas
- no provision made to allow more than one path through the lanterns

The result was that a huge group of people would be gazing at the same things at the same time or in a single spot at the same time.

This is not the first time our family has attended this, but it will be the last until changes are made or we stop having covid outbreaks in the area.
