A group of pensioners mostly with walkers, wheelchair and oxygen users. £10 entry & not advised not suitable for us. Spent about 15 mins struggling on shingle and grass. Took well over 1hr to walk to Waitrose cafe and farm shop. Totally exhausted but enjoyed the cafe & farm shop after a good rest. The water park is not suitable for us & an uphill walk to the facilities. Would not like others to experience this hardship for us.

A very tranquil, calm and quiet place. Beautiful reflections in the ponds, a great collection of hostas and other plants around the ponds and in the herbaceous borders. Many dragon and damsel flies darting about and some beautiful water lilies just opening up. It was also worth going up the road to the plant canter and cafe serving h the r most delicious and freshly prepared food.

£10 each to get in and we were done in 20 mins. None of the plants were identifiable. Plenty of weeds! Whilst I complain the walk from the Longstock Cafe might extend and enhance the visit. If this was your sole reason to visit I would be really disappointed. I believe there are National Trust walks close by along the river.

Very disappointed decided to go there as a treat for my 60th birthday,we paid £10 each entry fee but sorry didn't feel it was worth that much, there were no fish, and a lot of algae in some ponds and some of the plants were dying, didn't feel the gardens have been kept up to standard, very disappointed,we were there less than a hour.

Beautiful and peaceful water gardens. Follow the small sign post to "Water Gardens" rather than heading to the garden centre and John Lewis cafe - although they are both well worth a visit and if you have time, you can leave the car at the garden centre and walk the signed route to the Water Gardens.

We were taken here by friends who live in the Salisbury area. The water gardens comprise several large interlinked ponds formed in old gravel pits. The ponds have a water supply from the nearby river (Test?) and have an abundance of water lilies. In mid July the lilies were just coming into flower; white and yellow looked to be the most 'popular' colours.
Many gravel and grass paths meander through the gardens, often crossing the water on wooden bridges. An attractive design. Lots of ducks including two families of ducklings when we were there!
The gardens are owned by the John Lewis Partnership; indeed in the past one of the JL partners ran his empire from the summerhouse within the gardens!! The old dial telephone is still there.
Ample parking; entrance £10 for adults, card only. Informative booklet about the history, £3.50. Toilets in the grounds but no cafe - the JL farm shop and cafe is nearby (separate review).
There is a relaxed and peaceful ambience in the gardens with lots of benches so that you and sit and absorb the atmosphere. Well worth a visit of a couple of hours if you are in the area.

A really pretty place to visit- so peaceful and calm. We spent about an hour and half wandering round, walking over the little bridges to explore the mini islands. They’re a nursery, farm shop and cafe a short drive away. My only complaint would be that it’s quite a lot of money for such a small place. That said we really enjoyed our visit.

If the sun had been out this would have uplifted the whole experience. Saying that, this is quite a delightful place with plenty of seating and nice path to follow. Small for sure, meaning that maybe the price is just a little high. You will be pressed to find some interest to make your visit longer that an hour. That water areas are quite nice. The Bug Hotel did not seem to have any bugs staying at this time.

All much of a muchness, not much variation in planting, actually quite a small place, no wow factor at all. Consequently, I would say it was over priced. Perhaps were had been spoilt by having just come from a local sculpture park with fabulous grounds, vast array of sculptures and a wide variety of planting.

Have tried to contact Fishing Manager via phone as well as contacting Leckford Estate via email. But they never got back to me - not very good customer service. Even if the auto reply said they will get back in 3 days.

A basic walk round takes no longer than 45 minutes but to really enjoy it take a seat and enjoy the ambience in a couple of spots at least. I’d say 1.5 hours max for a visit unless you really want to get in to all the planting detail
