Take your time and then take a bus back to Whitby
sept. de 2021
We took a walk from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay with our dog, along the Cleveland Way cliff top path. It is well signposted and from St Mary's Church to the top of RHB is 6.5 miles, and we took around 3.5 hours as we stopped a few times for water and a snack plus wanted to admire and photograph the views.

A few parts are steep up and down to cross little streams, so you need to take your time and watch the slippery steps and rocks.

RHB is picturesque with its quaint cobbled streets and alleyways leading down to the beach. However we visited Staithes (up the coast) later in the week and found it to be quieter and much nicer.

We did however have a lovely lunch and a couple of pints at the Victoria Hotel back up the hill before a final explore and then catching the X93 back to Whitby, with the dog allowed on board.

Glorious cliff top walk from Robin Hood’s Bay to Whitby
jun. de 2021 • Parejas
Glorious walk from Robin Hood’s Bay to Whitby, along the Cleveland Way cliff top path ... around 6-7 miles, and 3.5 hours, because we just kept stopping to admire the stunning views. You can’t go wrong, it’s so well signposted, and a clear path all the way ... a few parts are steep up and down to cross little becks, but fine if you take your time and watch your step. Beautiful views all the way, and we even saw a dolphin pod out to sea - don’t miss the Hornblower Tea Garden, about 2 miles short of Whitby, perfect for a quick stop ...

A superb coastal walk!

Robin Hood's Bay to Ravenscar is a great walk along the coast but up and down in places so you have to be reasony fit. There is a NT cafe at Ravenscar and a pub. You can come back via the Cinder Track an old railway line which is flat and goes all the way back to RHB.

Circular 6 mile walk
may. de 2021 • Parejas
Starting in the bank top car park, which has free toilets and RingGo parking, we walked the cliff top walk as recommended by the North York Moor website. Lovely views out to sea and along the coastline ahead. The paths are stone, and through fields with inclines and declines. We came back up to the caravan site and used the cafe and toilets there before joining the cinder trail to walk back. The cinder trail is flat and wide and you still get good views of the coast so could use this for a more accessible walk.

Walking the Cleveland Way - spectacular views all along the coast
sept. de 2020
We walked from Sandsend to Ravenscar on Day 7 of our walking the Cleveland Way. After walking through Whitby and all along the coast, the Cleveland Way took us directly through the narrow streets of Robin Hood's Bay and onto picturesque Boggle Hole. We continued on to the Tourist Information Centre at Ravenscar. The last stretch was through woodlands, but most of the walk was along cliff tops with beautiful views of the coast.

Lots of ups and downs! All along the coast from Saltburn through to Filey, so quite strenuous but the amazing views are more than worth the effort.

We got a taxi back to Sandsend from Ravenscar at the end of the day. It is 25kms total so at a leisurely pace allow a full day of walking, with plenty of stops for photos.

We always do the Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay walk when visiting Whitby. Great walk of about 6/7 miles. You can get a bus back if you don’t fancy the walk back, bus stop easily found not far from main car park .

Magical
sept. de 2020
Walked from Robin Hoods Bay to Ravenscar - as the crow flies a short distance (3.5 miles ish) but took us over 3 hours as the terrain is up and down, and of course you have to stop a while and look at the views. We managed to get our tea sat outside at the rather dated but well positioned Raven Hall hotel, then walked back along the beach via the seal colony. Magical!!! Amazing coastline but shhhhh don’t tell everyone!

Coastal path from Whitby
jul. de 2020 • Parejas
Eductor, he can confess, found the lack of social distancing in the crowded alleys of Whitby a sure indicator of a northern spike to come. So despite his better judgement and a modest hangover he agreed to a “little walk” to Robin Hood Bay a sunny if windy Sunday. On the (very) positive side within 200m of the Abbey and certainly beyond the camp site, the trail emptied. And the views are genuinely spectacular.
More challenging was Google maps failure to understand that Eductor’s pace over a cliff top walk with regular steepish climbs and descents on a mildly maintained path would be slower than some camel towpath jaunt. Foolishly too, Eductor strode past the only cafe on the route. A school person error, that resulted in a search for a little sit down and a drink in RHB before a bus trip back to fish and chip town.

Our Walk

The walk from Robin Hoods Bay to Whitby is approx 10 miles, its not for the faint hearted, there are some tricky bits to conquer, but its worth it, take plenty of water, and good strong shoes
