Who steals from the Amish?!
oct. de 2021 • Negocios
I work loss prevention for the Amish. You would not believe the ppl WE have caught stealing from them. Trust me when I say we are absolutey certain before approching the thieves. Prices would be cheaper if the Amish didnt have to make up for the losses and pay for loss prevention agents. They are very kind ppl hard working ppl. Many don’t realize they are up at 3am to bring the market to us all here in Blakeslee. I have seen ppl with high end vehicles coming from many states that try to load up their vehicles with hundreds of dollars worth of items without paying. Anyone saying they were approached for stealing and didn’t is not being truthful. There isn’t just one agent in fact there are many of us watching and taking photos and videos of ppl helping themselves. We enjoy the regular customers as well as the new. We welcome all. However if you wanna take from the Amish you’ll be caught and asked not to return. It’s simply unfair to the real customers that have to pay for those that feel they deserve their stuff for free.

Greedy and unkind
ago. de 2021 • Familia
Unfortunately I had a bad experience. I bought $35 of their homemade juice, took 5 steps from the counter, had not even left the tent, when my niece lmk that it wasn't pasteurized. So I turned around to return. The man, who was completely aware of this, only returned $30. When i said it was $35, he said there was a restocking fee! Just a greedy and unkind individual. Thought it was worth sharing.

HEAVEN ON EARTH!
ago. de 2021 • Amigos
The CHEEEEEEESES were the BEST I’ve ever had!! The barbecue (both pork and chicken) was superb! Not to mention, the baked beans and macaroni salad (sides that come with the barbecue) were downright perfection. To those that are trying to steer clear of carbs - forgetta bout it & enjoy the soft, yeasty flavorful roll that comes with the meal. It’s worth every sinful carb!
I live for Shoo Fly Pie and low and behold, they had a CHOCOLATE one. Lemon bars? Yep. Tried the Caramel bars - absolutely Incredible.
You like fresh, homemade potato chips?? They have ‘em. Thought I died and went to heaven.

Basically, there’s not one negative thing to be said about this fantastic little fresh Amish market EXCEPT the parking lot was like navigating Times Square on NYE. Utter chaos.
If people would just RELAX, be PATIENT & use common sense (assuming they have any?!) it wouldn’t be an issue. Then again, there were lots of NY/NJ license plates sooooo …. 😉

Unnecessary Accusations
jul. de 2021
July 2021

First I would like to say that my family loved to shop there until today. Today my family got accused of stealing a gallon of milk from the market. When we got home we totaled the whole cost of items which was 31.50. we paid 37.50 so clearly, we did not steal any items and in actuality, we paid more.

I am a Marine Corps veteran of 8 years and currently have a 3.6 GPA in Computer Science studies. My wife is a loving mother to my 3 children and we have lived our lives with the utmost integrity. It feels very wrong and disrespectful to be accused of stealing any items from a market that is respected by the local community.

The sequences of events went like this:
My wife went into the dairy room to purchase more items and I decided to walk back to the car with my 1-year-old son in his stroller. I soon got approached by a hefty man who told me that he was from the loss prevention agency and began to accuse me and my wife of stealing the gallon of milk that was stored underneath the stroller. With all of my respect, I did not want to cause trouble and told him that I would walk with my wife back to the cashier to where we got the milk. The cashier clearly did not remember that we purchased the milk so, in turn, we decided to purchase the milk AGAIN.

WHAT BOTHERS ME ABOUT THIS is how disrespectful it feels to be accused of something that we clearly did not do. The "Loss prevention agent" was telling me and my wife that he did not know my family and has never seen us before, and he was telling us that he was watching us as we were shopping. It just feels wrong.

WHAT ALSO BOTHERS ME ABOUT THIS MARKET is the lack of security in a heavily populated market. This market has gotten worse over the months due to the increase in people coming from the city, stealing items from the market, and running back toward their city homes. The fact that my family, who lives 20 minutes away from the market (local people) got accused of something that we did not do annoys me the most. This place lacks the basic fundamentals of security and instead they hire security people to "watch" the shoppers and accuse them of stealing through assumptions. I think the owners truly need to reconsider their security procedures and introduce technology into their business (i.e. Camera systems, recording devices).

My family will no longer shop at this market due to its dishonest and disrespectful behavior towards my family and I take this seriously. YOU do not get my money for your business if you want to blatantly accuse my family of "stealing"

INCREASE YOUR SECURITY AND INTRODUCE CAMERA SYSTEMS FOR RECORDING SO YOU HAVE PROOF...IGNORANCE

A bustling, abundant market
ago. de 2020 • Familia
I truly enjoy visiting this market. The presence of the Amish is what first attracted me to it because I wanted my grandchildren to see and interact with people who have steadfastly held to traditions for centuries. But one visit would have sufficed for that. But what keeps me returning is the quality of the produce as well as the variety. The chicken barbeque is outstanding. Zook's homemade mint tea and root beer are delicious. There is a wide variety of book goods as well as cured meat. Prices are fair. The service is friendly and efficient. It is a delightful place to spend a part of one's day.

Delicious baked goods
sept. de 2019
I love going to this small farmers market that primarily sells produce and baked goods. It is run and staffed by the Amish. There is a wide variety of produce. The apples I purchased made great applesauce. The baked good were some of the best I ever had. If you like grilled chicken, that is a great option for lunch. There are a few picnic tables near the parking lot if you want to eat there.

A visit to the market!
sept. de 2019
We drove by the market area and noted the info sign. We went back on Saturday. Food cooking on the grill smelled delicious. Looked around for some special gifts who look after our home and take care of the cats. Picked up some jam, honey and a variety of soaps. Neighbors enjoyed and loved their gifts. Certainly would visit again when in the area.

Great produce and food, bring cash.
jul. de 2019 • En solitario
We visited on a Saturday morning. Good selection of produce and local jams/pickles and baked goods. Had the BBQ chicken lunch, a large portion and delicious. Not a large farmers market with many vendors, but easy to find with adequate parking. It is cash only, so that limited our shopping to cash on hand.

Worth visiting
sept. de 2018 • Parejas
This is a nice little market with assortment of Amish goods. From meats to vegetables all seem to be extremely fresh. The chicken skin has a nice yellow colour which tells me it must have been fed good corn. They make pretzels, donuts, chicken and meat pies all looked or were delicious. Many breads and baked goods are offered. All presented are diverse. Like a bacon bread, shoo fly pie and others. There is furniture to purchase. The cheese and other canned goods were numerous and tastings were offered for the cheese. Try the horseradish cheese. Flash frozen rabbit was offered as well. I believe the visitor will definitely leave with a purchase.
