The combination of the two Sam’s that served us being the owner and the wonderful delightful and so experience and knowledgeable waitress made our day so everything to us. The atmosphere and being out under the beautiful trees was a delight. The food was delicious the wine was superb and couldn’t ask for any better hospitality. This is the place to go if you’re on the Mornington Peninsula!

I felt embarrassed to take my son for his birthday there. The portion sizes were extremely small to the point we had to eat when we got home. I sent a review to them about the experience but it was totally dismissed.

We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary with a truly delightful evening at Polperro. On arrival, we loved the setting, were warmly greeted and shown to a window table overlooking the magnificent grounds. All staff were intentive, informative and knowledgeable about the food being served. And my, the meal was simply magnificent - whilst the wine was expensive, it was delicious. Thoroughly wonderful experience - thanks Polperro.

Family get together including our English cousins started out badly when the tour organiser forgot. We had to drive ourselves on the tour but to our delight, the tour company paid for each stop which included Polperro Winery for lunch. I'm not sure how much the "free" aspect played a part but we thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine, service and ambience. We were proud to have such a lovely place to show off to our guests from overseas. This was in late December 2019. I'm now booked in with a different group for New Year's Eve so review mark II in the New Year is coming.

We just visited their cellar door. My advice - not worth it, plenty more around with much nicer people and if you really want Polperro wines buy them from local stores at Mornington Peninsula.
Firstly, all wineries in the region that are open every day have a wine tasting available without booking mostly outside. No drama. This one operates on booking only principle, but is not listed as such on the wine touring map, so do not bother to show up.
Secondly, people there are very pretentious, set a bad vibe and make you feel unwelcome (particularly that dude at the door). It's a hospitality business and times are tough, so take the stick out of the proverbial and welcome your customer. Everywhere else we went, we were welcomed and people appreciated that we went to visit their cellar door/restaurant/cafe.
Now, the wine tasting. Lots of wineries charge for tasting (fair enough, I never questioned this), but tell you this up front and have a clear sign. Majority of them refund your fee upon purchase (I know of one in the region that does not, but you are told that the moment you walk in, and they did not charge us anyway). POLPERRO WINES HIDE THEIR FEE.
Nobody mentioned it when we booked, nobody mentioned it when we sat down in the cellar door, it is not written on tasting notes or anywhere else in the room. So here we are tasting wine (wines are good, but there is plenty of better stuff around for the same price) and we always buy something. We selected wines for $300 and THEN the woman tells us that unfortunately tasting fee is not refundable ($15 per person). Wait, what? What fee? Exactly. We were kind of left without a choice (well could have thrown a tantrum, pay the fee and walk away) so paid for wine and fee and left with a bad taste in our mouth. Definitely, this one is crossed from our list.

The fixed menu lunch is a fixed price for a jumbled menu that is complete rubbish. All thrown on the table by lazy incompetent staff.
Price per person (with wine) was $140 per head.
We all decided afterwards that we would have had a better meal by going to McDonalds drive through and eating at home with a proper bottle of wine.

Diner’s are so spoilt for choice in Red Hill, but this is where I send everyone!
I dined at Polperro two days ago, about my 6th visit but first post-covid.. and I think my favourite visit yet! The chefs menu was just divine, and catering to dietary requirements was no issue with notice. Sometimes with dietary requirements you can feel a little “ripped off” with set menus, but in this instance every single item was equally as phenomenal as my partner who had standard.
I always look forward to enjoying a post-lunch cocktail on the lawn deck chairs - and this was no exception. Taking in the beautiful view is truly chicken soup for the soup. Thanks team.

Beautiful view and wine tasting experience on the deck was amazing. The gentleman facilitating the tasting on last Saturday was very nice, good knowledge of the wines and made the whole experience worthwhile. Would definitely recommend anyone visiting Red Hill to visit Polperro winery as a must and the Even Kneel Chardonnay was excellent! I don’t like Chardonnays but I was converted at Polperro :))

I was excited to visit Polperro Winery for my 60th Birthday Lunch in January. The view and setting was amazing, however the fact that we had to pay $70 per head for a set menu to share a meal was a big FAIL.
It seems totally ridiculous to have to share a meal....sharing a small lamb shank and the parsnip mash.....also had to be shared, it was just a normal serving size!!
If you are paying $70 per head for food only, each person should receive their own plate of food. Sadly at Polperro restaurant you don’t.
The serving sizes are also very, very small.
The food itself was tasty and nicely presented, well done to the chef, however more of each course would have been nice. I sent feedback to the restaurant which landed on deaf ears.
Very underwhelming is all I can say. I will never eat there again! I would suggest just going for a glass of wine and take in the fabulous which is what I would do next time......forget the restaurant, it’s just not worth it. There are much better eateries on the Peninsula.😊🥂

Unfortunately, we are unable to have dogs on the property due to our free-range chickens which roam around throughout the day. Sorry for any inconvenience, we look forward to seeing you soon!
