The pier is a great place to spend some time watching the ferry come and go to Queenscliff across the bay .
There is a good carpark where you can leave your car for free , the signs say from April to November, the rest of the year you have to pay , handy to know.
The pier can be very busy especially when the ferry is in .
It is only a short walk into the shopping area or to the very nice park directly above the area, well worth a visit.

My wife and I drove here for a visit during our recent annual holiday in Mornington Peninsula. We have been here a few times before over the years.
In a previous visit, we had taken the Moonraker Boat Cruise to see dolphins and seals. In another visit, we had taken the ferry ride with our car on board, from Queenscliff to Sorrento, during a holiday in regional Victoria.

Visited on Friday 14th February, we checked out the pier expecting to find an old pier to walk on instead it's where the ferries depart for Queenscliff.

This is a nice place to have a wander & watch the ferry and the seagulls and it's just a short stroll from the shops.

Lovely place for a nice stroll. You can just laze and watch the ferry arrive and depart. Short walk up to the main street.

Built in 1870, this pier is in one of Victoria's oldest towns. A popular place to fish from and bath from the beaches close by. The Searoad Ferries cross from Sorrento to Queenscliff, every hour during the day time and it's a fun place to be.

Nice little pier with the Queenscliff ferry arriving on a regular basis.We watched the locals fishing (with minimal success) and saw the ferry arrive and leave. Avoid the cafe because it would appear that the location and captive audience has allowed them to charge high food prices. There are other options in town.Very clear water but surprisingly fast running currents that weren't apparent elsewhere.

Sorrento is a township on the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria, Australia. It's bordered by Sorrento Front Beach, on sheltered Port Phillip Bay, and Sorrento Back Beach, with its heavy ocean surf. Ocean Beach Road is known for its limestone buildings, which house shops and cafes. Mansions on Millionaire's Walk overlook the bay. The Collins Settlement Site is the location of Victoria's first European settlement.

How enchanting to sit on the pier and watch the Queenscliff - Sorrento ferry skillfully dock, unload, load, and depart. All the while pleasure boats are moving in all directions, and ships are passing in the nearby channel to and from the Port of Melbourne.
