Very informative about the history of Bermuda, including slavery, and involvement in wartime. Some of the exhibits were closed for refurbishment.

Would concur with all of the glowing reviews by previous commentators for all the reasons stated. We especially the exhibits in the Queen's Exhibition Hall and the Dolphin Quest. Had an informative conversation with the lovely young woman in the Dolphin Quest store. She provided a plethora of information about bottle nosed dolphins. Quite informative. A visit to the National Museum is filled with all kinds of exhibits - there's something for everyone here.

So much to see in the fabulous space that is the National Museum of Bermuda, once the Commissioner's House on the Naval dockyards. Situated at the lower point of the Island of Bermuda on extensive grounds some furniture still in place on the main floor, great explanations of the slave history well documented, and defensive artilary on the lower level. Beaches and wonderful scenery are the main draws of Bermuda, but this should not be missed. There is a cost to enter; the ticket an be reused during the day.

The museum was an easy walk from our cruise ship. We enjoyed the beautiful views from the ramparts and the Commissioner’s House.
The walk up to the Commissioner’s House was not as hard as we envisioned before our visit. It was also easier to access the ramparts than I feared.

My spouse and I went to Bermuda on a cruise and explored the museum and grounds for around 2 hours. The grounds were beautiful with the sea views, and the museum was interesting and well kept.

Very nice museum/fortress. Its right in the Naval dockyards, entry fee is 18$. The fortress has very informative exhibits and extensive grounds with breathtaking views. Part of the museum grounds is a Dolphin quest where you are free to visit tank habitats with 10 resident dolphins. The trainers/caretakers are happy to answer questions you have about the life of the dolphins.

Right across from where our cruise ship docked is the National Museum of Bermuda. It is well worth the price of admission and my wife and I spent a couple hours looking at all the exhibits and the grounds. Someone could easily spend all day there. It was overwhelming with all of the history and number of displays and artifacts. The displays are very well done and there are several buildings to explore. I enjoyed walking around deep inside the fort the best. The walls must be about 10 feet thick.

This was a fort built in the early 19th century, now it is the National Museum of Bermuda so its exhibits are more than just for the fort. The Commissioners House is the most identifiable building in the fort and it is quite impressive. The fort is right on the water and a tunnel allows dolphins to come and go as they please. There are also sheep on premises, just make sure you close the sheep gate so they stay there. The museum is completely self guided and the museum brochure was not much help. Cost of admission is $18.

This was the most interesting activity around the dockyard where cruise ships arrive. You can easily walk from the ship to the museum or take the free tram. Inside the museum there is dolphin quest where you can interact with dolphins but that is not included with your museum ticket. You can still see the dolphins and staff having fun. The museum is actually a Fort with a lot of history. The displays are modern and well organized and presented. I enjoyed the Commissioner's House with it's exhibitions. Here you can enjoy a great view of the whole area and take pictures of the Bermuda longtails that are flying around. We visited at the end of May and there were plenty of longtails. You will need a good camera with a telephoto lens and you can take your time, enjoying the view, the shade, the breeze and the higher ground on the balcony of the second floor (at the Commissioners' house). Much better than trying to climb the rocks at Horseshoe bay to take similar shots!

The National Museum of Bermuda towers above the Royal Navy Dockyard, and it's worth a stop if you've got the time. Located inside the former commissioner's house, the museum sits at the highest point in this area, and it offers some beautiful views of the Dockyard. Inside, I learned quite a bit, from the contributions of various immigrant communities to Bermuda, to the country's harsh history with slavery, and how tourism blossomed as a key industry in the 20th Century. The price of admission is a bit steep at $18, but in the end I thought it was worth the time and money.

How long should we spent at the National Museum of Bermuda? Is one hour too short?
Thanks,
Amy
Escrita el 14 de agosto de 2019
Hi Amy,
Thank you for checking. We typically recommend 2-3 hours to view the entire museum. This gives you time to take in all of our artifacts and to explore the grounds (with additional time to take in the beautiful views).
Let us know if you have any additional questions and we hope you enjoy your visit!
