We learned a lot and had a gorgeous tour with Captain Saunders' on his wodden boat Miss Nicole. The cove we first toured is filled with beautiful properties and stories that can date way back to the 17th century. The bridge and bay are majestic and we then enjoyed the full tour and our picnic on board.

My wife and I were at The Tides for the weekend with one of our dinner dance clubs and we along with five others had a four hour, 10 to 2, boat ride with Captain William on Saturday, April 6. This was our second river cruise with him and it was another great experience. He picked us up on the dock at The Tides. The boat is comfortable with plenty of space and some chairs available. He has several routes available and this cruise was different from our previous ride. Captain William grew-up in the area and knows the history of many of the houses one sees on the river. He is a very down-to-earth gentleman who is very affable. My wife's colonial ancestors (Carter and Dale) had a house which was visible from the river and that Captain William knew about and pointed-out and also some of their property was where the restaurant where we stopped for lunch (not included in his fee) was located so it was very meaningful to have those connections for the cruise. We saw many birds including several bald eagles. Everyone enjoyed the cruise and we look forward to another ride soon. We booked directly on his web site which Captain William really appreciated since it saves him some of the booking fee The Tides charges him if you do it through the resort.

My husband and I took the sunset cruise on the Rappahannock with Captain Saunders and it was awesome! It is a special experience to be able to enjoy the Miss Nicole, a historic deadrise. The views are stunning, the evening was pleasant and fun. I am from the area originally, yet still learned many things I didn't know. The evening was very pleasant and informative. I can't wait to do it again!

My adult granddaughter and I took the Sunset Cruise with Captain William Saunders and crew about a week ago.
Everyone was very accommodating and eager to please.
This is a great way to experience the magnificence of the Chesapeake Bay waters !
Capt. Saunders is very knowledgeable about the area, both man made and natural, and imparts that knowledge in an enjoyable way.
I have boating experience personally, and also with expert boat handlers, and I feel that Captain Saunders is one of the best, safest, most experienced persons you could have running a boat on which you and/or your loved ones are aboard.
I will definitely be booking with him again, most likely for a fishing charter.

What a wonderful trip for the family! Captain Saunders was well prepared to help our family have an awesome first time fishing experience. All 3 boys, ages 10 to 3 learned a ton and caught a ton! By the end, we all learned how to catch salt water fish. It was also better than a trip to the aquarium since we saw dolphins galore and caught many unique sea creatures (on accident) such as oyster toads, stingray and a variety of beautiful fish!!!! Wonderful "field trip" like experience for the kids (and parents too)! Can't wait to do it again.

My wife, two adult children and myself took a four hour tour of the Rappahannock River from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 29. We were picked-up on time at The Tides Inn. We cruised down the Rappahannock from Carter's Creek in Irvington to Deltaville and back. Captain Saunders was excellent. He is from the area so he knows all kinds of information about the various locations and families. He pointed-out various spots and told us interesting stories and facts about them. He is very professional and very personable. The trip up and down the river was beautiful and a day our family will never forget. Captain Saunders recommened a pier front restaurant in Deltaville, Cocomos / The Railway, and it was very good, we treated him to lunch. The river tour included a school of dolphins at the mouth of the river in Deltaville, really cool. We recommend this charter company very highly and think you will enjoy any experience with Captain Saunders.
