A good, non circular, walk
ago. de 2020
On a decent day this is a lovely walk to do, just be prepared for having to do the same walk in reverse unless one of you drives around and waits for the rest.

Scotland has a glorious coastline and this shows it off to perfection. Bits of beaches, bits of trees, great views off to the horizon and out to sea. Not to strenuous or muddy (weather dependent), and a good walk for the whole family.

Great walk to have with the family! Especially in the sun!

Really good walk, not demanding for anyone, views are excellent and on a warm sunny day its even better! Also watch out for Kippfords solid shell beach (as in whole shells, Ive never seen a beach like it)

Bit of a schlep but worth it!

Stunning scenery along the coast and not too challenging [but make sure you plan for the return walk] and take a picture of the instructions on the boards at Sandyhills, we didn't and had a huge detour on the shingle beach before backtracking but a really lovely walk.

One of the Solway’s great coastal walks
jun. de 2019 • Amigos
This really is one of the best of Dumfries and Galloway’s coastal walks. There are several variations, the choice of which depends on the time you have available. You can start at Sandyhills or Portling and finish at Rockliffe or Kippford. None of these walks are circular so you will either need to take two cars or have someone to drop you off at one end. On a sunny day there really is little to beat this except perhaps the circular walk from the Balcary Bay Hotel to Rascarrel and back again. So, if you are feeling energetic, why not do both - Sandyhills to Kippford in the morning, lunch at the Anchor or the Mariner in Kippford then Balcary Bay to Rascarrel in the afternoon. Bliss!

Well marked path
may. de 2019 • Amigos
A relatively easy walk but with a few pulls to burn off some calories so you feel you have done a proper walk. The path is easy to follow. Plenty of interest along the walk but the highlight for us were the nesting cormorants and razorbills on the cliffs. There were more than 20 cormorant nests. Be sure to take your binoculars if you are there from May onwards.
We had two cars, so since there are car parks both ends we were able to walk one way and take the car back.

Great dog walking beach
abr. de 2019 • Parejas
Truly pet-friendly, great for tiring out the dog! We came here on the first day of our break and whilst it was dry, it was incredibly windy but it was extremely quiet. Unfortunately, due to the glorious sunny weather the next few days... it was extremely busy when we walked from Rockcliffe to Sandyhills

Clean and spacious sandy beach
abr. de 2019 • Amigos
Stopped off on the way to Sweetheart Abbey and unfortunately it was far too windy to enjoy the beach for any period of time (sand everywhere, obviously) I did manage to go onto the beach a little bit and could see that it was really wide, and was absolutely spotless. Nothing on the beach at all apart from sand and rocks.

There is an information sign at the entrance to the beach detailing the walking route, and also how to get back if you don't want to walk back, which is handy. Parking is 2 or 3 pounds, I can't quite remember, but I had parked at the side for free as we were only there for about 10-15 minutes just for a wee stretch of the legs.

I will definitely be coming here again when the weather is better as it is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the seaside. And I doubt it would be too busy, even in the warmer weather.
