Always a stopping point yearly to this park where there used to be a few people and a few parked cars and now there are several lots, washroom and lots of people visiting this wonder of nature where waves have pounded the shoreline and caves formed. Watch your kids as you wander near the edge and I have young people jump into the water. There rocks you can see through the water. Be careful.

It was a surprise to find a county park to be such a beautiful and peaceful place. Walking and taking pictures and generally just slowing down. Pictures just happened. I wasn’t expecting this at all.

It is worth it for you to drive to this free county park in Door county. It is not far north of Sturgeon Bay. You will really get a taste of the wildness of Lake Michigan. This park is on Lake Michigan, rather than on Green Bay on the other side of the peninsula. There is plenty of parking, a nice shelter, nice bathrooms and beautiful views of the lake as it crashes into the rocks. Walking along the lake on the trail is an experience. You hear the waves crash into the rocks and caves, you can walk out and sit on the rocks and just relax watching the water and be awed by the interesting rock formations along the shoreline, or if you are there on a windy day, you may need to stand back to watch the waves come crashing in and splashing high off the rocks. You would want to supervise young children as there are no fences or barricades between the trail and the rocks and water. It is a bit confusing getting there, as it seems that you drive through part of Whitefish Dunes State Park, which is a fee area, before you get to Cave Point County Park, which is not a fee area. Watch the signs. We always have to visit Cave Point County Park when we go to Door County.

Weather was chilly and cloudy for August, but don’t let that deter you! We had an incredible time seeing the views and angry water. It was definitely a highlight of our trip.

We took a short hike from the Welcome Center to the cave point. We got lucky and a group of kids were jumping from the rock into the water. Within minutes almost everyone in the area stopped to watch them. Great views of the lake and of the shoreline.

We visited on a blustery winter day. Wild waves crashing into cliffs; very exciting. Trail along cliff offers beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Nice bathrooms and parking area.

We always watch for strong winds off the lake on a sunny day-the rainbow pics from the waves crashing are beautiful. Love coming up early spring or late fall less tourist at that time.

Had stopped by on our way up north. Lovely park which was enjoyable for a short trip. Definitely would recommend stopping by!

Took a hike along both directions at Cave Point. Fall color appear to be peak. All my videos were ruined by a constant hum of some idiot's drone.

Finally visited on this trip and don't know what took me so long. We took a nice hike along the cliffs and enjoyed wonderful views of the lake. Next time we'll walk the other way to Whitefish Dunes State Park

I do not know as we stayed in a B&B and didn't research campgrounds. However, Door County has a wonderful website you can check out regarding accommodations and camping.
Is there a shuttle or tour bus that goes from Green Bay to Cave Point County Park?

If not renting the gazebo, is entry and parking free? I assume parking fills up fast in summer? Any and all info is appreciated!

When I was there in late May it was free. There is a state park right by it though that you have to pay for.

As you can see, parking is free, but limited space. If you do have an annual WI State Park Pass, consider parking just south of Cave Point and hike in from White Fish Dunes State Park. It is only about a mile and the path is breathtaking along the Lake Michigan waterfront, most cliffs with some areas where you can walk down to the waters edge. We bought a $28 annual State Park Pass in January and have already used it 25+ times! Well worth the expense if you like visiting the many State Parks WI has to offer! dnr.wi.gov/news/Weekly/article/?id=4418
