My family loves coffee so I spent on the Guided Tour. The “Guide” knew little about growing coffee or leading a tour. Overall, not informative tour, not allowed to actually visit the coffee plants, and the promised 12 oz cup of Kona Joe Coffee was also not provided. If you like coffee, find somewhere else. Kona Joe was disappointing. I wish I had the time and money back.

This is a tour you can skip. The "tour" includes looking at 1 coffee plant near the main building, not in the fields. Then a video that shows some of the production process. Then to a room where they sort the beans by size and weight. Next where they can roast the beans. Nothing was operational. You get a shot glass size sample and are able to purchase the expensive coffee. Other tours are worth the time and money. The one saving grace is the views from the store of the ocean and down by the shoreline.

Great views and a nice coffee farm to explore. Make sure to try the free samples! The tour looked interesting as well. Recommended.

Stopped in for a brief coffee on our way to the Hawaiian Volcanoes NP.
Impressive coffee.
Small and a bit pricey, but the views are worth it.

After our arrival, getting our rental car, and after lunch, we still had time to spare before our hotel room was ready (Monday July 24). Since we already planned a visit sometime during our stay on the big island, why not do it now?
It was a good call because we stopped in during a slow afternoon. As a result, Marissa gave us an amazing private tour. I know it wasn’t really private, but we were the only ones on the tour.
Anyway, we are looking forward to drinking the coffee we roasted when we return home!

My wife and I loved the roasting experience, guided by Nesta. Very fun and educational, plus we get to relive it when we return home and make coffee with the beans we roasted.

This was a beautiful coffee farm. We enjoyed a private tour and what a wonderful time we had there. The guide was so knowledgeable and shared a plethora of information with us from the harvesting of the beans, the patented - trellis growing process, to the entire process from bean to roasting. We were able to roast our own beans which was a special opportunity and took home some amazing, organic and freshly roasted coffee. I would recommend if you enjoy learning about new things and like coffee.
Very great experience and beautiful grounds. Highly recommend.

Coffee was good. Took the basic tour. It was not very extensive. There were two videos and then you saw small roasters to roast the beans. The self guided tour would probably be a better choice. They gave us mugs and a chocolate coffee bean at the end which was fine, but then we had to pack the mugs and carry them the rest of our trip.

My son had heard about this place and wanted to visit. We were so glad we made the drive to see these views! The coffee was good, too though I wished they had more sugar free syrup options. We did not do a tour, but sat overlooking the amazing view as we enjoyed our coffees.

the guides are super helpful and I would think children age 5 and up would be involved by the guides and find it pretty interesting. The view is great and the shop is fun but easy to check over fairly quickly , so likely no loss of attention span.

I will be visiting in April 2018 and will be staying in Hilton Waikoloa. If i booked a taxi to get to your site, would you be able to organise a taxi for me so i can get back to the hotel. I can't drive.

I am sure you could get a Taxi or Uber to take you to Kona Joe's and I know they could arrange for a return to your Hotel. You might want to also contact the Hilton and see if they have any program tours available that would take small groups to visit some of the Coffee Plantations. Highly recommend Kona Joe's and don't hesitate to call or email them -- sure they would welcome you and give you reassurance that you could get back to the Hotel with no concerns!

What is the cheapest way to get to your plantation from a cruise ship

Aloha,
The cheapest way to come to our farm will be using a Uber or a taxi. If you are planning to visit more spots in the island you might look for renting a car.

What is the best way to get there? Is there a tour company you recommend or should I be renting a car?

Aloha! Will you be staying in Kona or will you be visiting via cruise ship? If you will be staying in Kona, best thing to do is rent a car so you will be able to get around easier. Everything seems to be spread out :) If you will be mainly taking guided tours with tour companies and do not want to rent a car, you can take a taxi up to us. We are about 15 minutes south of Kailua-Kona (not very far). If you will be visiting us via cruise ship, you can either take a taxi or rent a car and there is also a shore excursion that includes a stop at our farm. If you are coming this way, please let me know and i can find out which tour is available from your ship. Please let me know if you have any other questions, we would love for you to stop by and see us! You can also reach me directly at 808-322-2100.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Mahalo!
