情緒あふれる橋の眺めはハナペペならでは。スパイスマーケット傍の小径からアクセス。譲り合いながら橋を渡ります。小さな町なので、所要時間はいくつかのギャラリーや本屋さん、洋服屋さんなどを冷やかししながら歩いても1時間くらい。食事をしたとしても２時間かからなかな。ワイメアの帰りに立ち寄るつもりでいるなら、夕方4時までにはハナペペに着かないと、5時ごろには閉まってしまうお店もあります。

We ended up in historic old Hanapepe while waiting for a restaurant to open for dinner. In the meantime, we wandered and found the old bridge. It is a one directional bridge, so you need to wait while people choose to go one direction or the other. Also, no more than 15 people on it at a time, although it bounced plenty with just 4 or so of us on it.

Cool experience that we just stumbled upon. If you happen to be close then this is a fun stop. They indicate a maximum of 15 people, but we were fortunate not many people were around.

Fun to walk across the bridge and check out Hanapepe. Cute town will some nice galleries and a great bookstore. Nice stop on our way back from Waimea Canyon.

We’d read this wasn’t worth the trip….so true. We didn’t make a special trip to see this we were actually passing thru Hanapepe so we stopped to see the bridge. But do not make a special trip for this.

During our visit to Hanapepe, we noticed this swinging bridge that spans the local river. The bridge was originally built in the early 1900’s, but it’s been maintained and repaired over the years. Having been around for so long, there’s a bit of history to the bridge. However, besides being an interesting stop and a nice view over the river, there’s not much more to it. Worth checking out if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip.

Took the local bus to Swinging Bridge, really nothing there, just an old bridge and a few stores n galleries. I would not waste my time. I like the suspension bridge at Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania. Lovely.
Yes, you can take the bus here but local bus will make a loop to town before dropping you off at the West Pharmacy(where you get off). To catch a return bus, you need to cross the stress and catch the bus (opposite route) to get back to downtown Kauai. Kauai is beautiful but most hotel and food are expensive. Once is good.

I had high hopes to visit this little bridge unfortunately we could only stand to the side and view. There were so many people standing in the middle viewing the water we didn’t have time to wait. * 15 people max allowed at one time. Maybe next time-

This sight is a historic bridge that is still used locally to this day. The real sight is the art festival and all the shops in hanapepe but if you’re there this is a must see if in local area

We visited Hanapepe in hopes of having a great lunch... just to find out that either businesses were closed or the places we wanted to dine at were out of business too... so we had checked out the swinging bridge... if you had a pleasure of being on one in the past it's just a hanging bridge... if you haven't well it's still just a hanging bridge :)
Don't stop here just for the bridge, it's simply not that big of a deal - and do check out the hours of the businesses as some of them have weird ones for certain being closed on Monday...
TIP: if you go to Waimea this is literally on the way and for that it works, otherwise not worth going out of your way
