This is a small museum next to Carpenters Hall. It’s the first meeting area of the military. The brick in this area looks so good it’s like they put it in yesterday. Lots of history in this little area.

This is a small by important building. This is where the military got started and the pentagon is what it has become today. They have a picture on the wall comparing the two places. There’s a small exhibition in the building but not much to the place. Normally I’d give it 3 stars because it’s so small but because of it’s significance and importance I’ll give it 4 but don’t expect a lot. You see this building after you see Carpenter’s Hall, another very important building. It’s on the same walking path.

Tiny museum on the path into Carpenters Hall. It is the original Pentagon and home of the War Department of the United States. The main floor focuses on the birth of the Marines which were started here in Philadelphia. Some interesting exhibits. Started with only 6 people in the War Department and now has over 23,000 working at the Pentagon. On the second floor they have exhibits about the Army and the Navy. On the bottom floor there are clean restroom and a really cold water fountain. An interesting stop as you make your way across Philadelphia. You pass it as you approach Carpenters Hall.

New Hall, now home of the Military Museum, was the headquarters of the War Department when Philadelphia was the nation’s capital making it the great grand daddy of the Pentagon. Today it’s a small, free museum jam packed with exhibits mostly from the Revolutionary War.
The first floor contains tributes to the troops of various eras, a large bronze sculpture and a chronology of the Revolution complete with dioramas (see picture) and period weapons. You’ll also meet the curator. Be sure to ask some questions or s/he may ask you a few.
There are three fully rigged model sailing ships including the cutaway of the Hereford (see picture). If you have little ones with you ask them to find the toilets. While they’re looking you can cheat and check the key.
New Hall is one of a cluster of buildings between Independence Hall and the brand new American Revolution Museum. It’s a nondescript, not too inviting building but pretend there’s a big “welcome” sign on the door and walk right in. And in case nature calls during your visit to Philadelphia there are restrooms in the basement.
While you're in the area take a gander behind Carpenter's Hall and you may find a show in progress on the lawn.

Out of all the museums, this was the smallest and poorest. Not a ton to see inside, but still worth a quick stop before heading to Carpenter's Hall.

The New Hall Military Museum is very small, but yet formidable on its own. The most memorable thing is a model of the USS Raleigh, an early naval vessel. There are some things for kids here, so it's a nice stop for families.

This is just a small little museum nestled down an alley way. But it is mighty and has some neat artifacts. It won't take too much time to complete it, but it is worth the walk through!

It is free and right next to all the other historical sites so it is worth the quick stroll through. It showcases Navy, Army and Marines.

This small little museum is located close to the Carpenters' Hall. At first I wasn't sure if the museum was open when I passed it, but after I visited Carpenters' Hall I went back and took another look.
The museum consist of two floors. On the first floor you can follow a timeline and see what happened on important dates. Each year that is represented has an item behind the glass, like and old sabre or an old hand grenade from 1781.
On the upper floor the exhibition continuous. Well worth a visit.
There is no entrance fee.
