We love visiting cemeteries when we visit Savannah and decided to visit Laure Grove this time. We were staying in the historic district and decided to walk there. It was quite a trek in the July heat. Worth it to us, but please be prepared and hydrate. It is a beautiful historic cemetery and there are several nice, new benches located around the grounds.

Marcia Plamer was a knowledgeable guide whose presentation added life to the people we visited in the Laurel Grove cemetery. Her grasp of the historical context of their actions helped us appreciate their impact on the history of Savannah, and the United States. The two-hour tour went quickly as we walked with time for questions and observations.

The highlight of seeing Juliet Low's grave was enhanced by learning it was not in the Low plot but in that of her parents, the Gordons. The layout of the cemetery reflected a more diverse mixture of Jewish, Christian, enslaved, and free people.

I would strongly recommend the tour to those seeking to glimpse the history of Savannah.

Beautiful cemetery worth spending a little time. Drove through looking at the stones and taking lots of pictures. I would recommend.

Beautiful cemetery. Very peaceful. We went specifically to find Juliette Gordon Low's gravesite and glad we did. Absolutely loved reading all the messages that Girl Scouts have left over the years.

We came upon this cemetery in the course of walking to other things. It has a lot of historic markers, including one for a Declaration signer. It really helped us connect with Savannah history.

Laurel Grove is a hidden gem of a site in Savannah. It's a bit off the beaten path, but has so much history and beauty. You could spend hours here exploring. Highly, highly recommend! I did not visit via a tour, as I ended up here because it was very close to an air bnb.

This cemetery is truly breathtaking and far less trespassed than any other tourist attraction in Savannah, which only adds to its charm. I don't know how it has flown under the radar with a history that includes many of Savannah's most noteworthy people. The historic monuments, mausoleums and sculptures are just as stunning as the local favorite, Bonaventure, and the scenery is perfectly picturesque. Laurel Grove feels as though you've broken into a historic vault or temple where sacred ruins and mysteries await. I am thrilled that tours are now available for the first time, ever. Be sure to check out Savannah Georgia's Laurel Grove Cemetery with Shannon Scott Tours. His tour guide, Richard, provides the perfect Savannah experience for anyone looking to understand this beautiful city and its past. He knows the secrets and forgotten tales of Laurel Grove, and he will make the trip worthwhile. The location is practically in the historic downtown area, so it's easily accessible, and it's easy to walk through. Definitely recommend!

Laurel Grove Cemetery is very quiet, I didn't see anyone else there except two grounds keepers. You can drive throughout and pull over to visit specific gravesites. I was thrilled to find the Sorrel family site and it was a moving experience. Juliet Low is buried there and her grave is covered with sweet Girl Scout notes and little flowers. The old Sailors area has an interesting plaque and the area for babies will make you cry...
Bonaventure is more famous but Laurel Grove is just as interesting and picturesque.

Laurel Grove North is the final resting place for many famous people and confederate soldiers. Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts is buried there. Unlike some other historical cemeteries, you can drive through Laurel Grove and stop and get out to take a picture or get a close up look at the graves. Laurel Grove South is where slaves and free people of color were buried during the days of the segregated south.
