Two sites here: an emperor's mausoleum museum from the Han Dynasty with lots of high quality artefacts. Also a Han underground excavation of 15 burial sites of high ranked officials from the Han dynasty.
About an hour's drive from the old Xi'an city center.
Almost empty when we went on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. Big contrast to the Terracotta Army site and the Shaanxi museum site. Worth seeing as this is a different dynasty.
They do have English guides on site when we asked (100rmb per guide, for each site) but we weren't sure if the quality would be good. No English audioguide. However, the underground burial chambers had plenty of English signage. The Emperor museum had no English signage, but very good Chinese signage and using Google Translate was more than sufficient.
There's about 15 minutes walk each between ticket office, site 1 and site 2, with no shade, so bear that in mind. You can also call didi cars for the journeys in between, but there is generally a lack of cars in the area.
Well worth visiting if you have a total of 4-5hours to spare (time including transportation). The experience was much more peaceful, and the artefacts high quality, as well as the learning experience. Tickets were cheap, only 70rmb each. Bring passport. No WiFi on site.

I am traveling in Xi'an for five days, and the fifth day's itinerary is: Daming Palace National Heritage Park, Hanyang Mausoleum Museum.
Hanyangling Museum is a museum located in Hanyangling in Xianyang City. It is a national first-class museum in China.
The museum is divided into the Imperial Tomb Exterior Zangkeng Site Protection Exhibition Hall, the Archaeological Exhibition Hall,
Nanquemen ruins protection exhibition hall and ancestral temple ruins are divided into four parts.
The Archaeological Exhibition Hall was built in 1999. It is located on the south side of the Imperial Tomb and Hou Tomb. It is a semi-underground two-story building.
The displays include "Overview of Yangling Mausoleum and cultural relics unearthed from ritual buildings", "Cultural relics unearthed from the burial pits of the Imperial Tomb",
"Exhibition of Cultural Relics in the Burial Cemetery" displays cultural relics unearthed from various parts of Yangling over the years, totaling more than 1,800 pieces.
Before entering the museum, we first put on shoe covers and watched the big-screen movie "Palace of a Thousand Palaces" for about ten minutes.
I just started to visit Lingdong Pit 12~21 through the glass curtain wall and glass passage.
The tunnel displays a large number of cultural relics such as various pottery figurines, animal sculptures, daily utensils and so on.

For those looking for a quieter and more manageable alternative to the bustling Terracotta Warriors site, I highly recommend visiting the Han Yong Ling Museum. This charming museum makes for a perfect half-day outing from Xi'an. Unlike the crowded and sprawling Terracotta Warriors site, the Han Yong Ling Museum is peaceful and easy to navigate. It won't take you too long to walk around, and you can enjoy a more intimate look at the ancient history of the region.

This is a great counter point to the Terracotta Warriors. Everything is smaller, and it in tunnels not pits. One of the great parts is that you are able to walk over some of the pit areas on glass and see the artifacts still in their tunnels. Its helps you understand how they are and how they were found.
In places it was too dark honestly, and I am not sure why there is some areas that are decently lit and others that aren't so much.
I used Travel China Guide for my trip and they were wonderful and Tracy a gem, and she was able to explain things that otherwise wouldn't have been known.
For some they will say that tit pales in comparison but I think it was a wonderful way to compare different eras.

博物馆本身是不错的,介绍了详细的这座汉景帝陵墓周边发掘情况和出土一些文物。只是因为公交在疫情期间全部停止,颇为不便。

The concept is similar! A later Emperor built his own mausoleum with terra-cotta warriors. If the Qin terra-cotta army is like a blockbuster movie packing them in, then the Han Yang Ling is like an art house movie for the select few. The museum is totally underground and dimly lit. Being a later discovery, the museum is relatively new and built over the excavated pits, like a protective cover. I was impressed by the glass floors over parts of the pits, enabling me to look down directly at the relics. The terra-cotta soldiers are plainer, doll sized and armless, as their wooden arms had all rotted away. The thin crowd and dim lighting lent an eerie and plaintive mood to the mausoleum. The museum forms a very small fraction of the entire 10 sq km of mausoleum as excavation is still in progress. It’s a reminder of the monumental scale of the historical relics yet to be unearthed and discovered in Xi’an. When we exited the museum, our guide led our eyes to the massive field far into the horizon, where the tomb pits had been marked and yet to be unearthed. No regrets for visiting this unique museum.

This is worth a visit but it is not the Terracotta Warriors in terms of spectacle and things to see. I would therefore suggest that you visit ahead of a visit to its ‘bigger brother’ so to speak.
The history story is interesting and the exhibits are well presented. This is not a must see but worth you while if this history interests you. You will need less than an hour.
As part of our trip we also visited the Archaeological Exhibition Hall Simulated Area. This was a nice add on as it gave a better understanding of how the treasures are found and allows you to use some of the tools to dig in the simulated area.

This mausoleum/museum is between the airport and Xi'an. It is in need of some minor maintenance, particularly in regard to signage, suggesting
neglect. The low light in the museum makes photography, and indeed seeing the exhibits, quite difficult. No flash photography is allowed (the design incorporating natural light at the Terracotta warriors is far superior by comparison, although the crowds there are much more intense). Overall quite interesting to visit a small part of a working site. Although undoubtedly historically significant, it is just an 'appetizer' to the 'main course' of Xi'an, being the Terracotta Warriors.

We did this the day before the Terracotta warriors and got a feel for what the larger version would be. Has good English translations but is very low light. It's modern, clean, cool, nice bathrooms, etc. You are given plastic booties for your shoes and part of the walk is over the excavated pits (not a lot, but an interesting feature). Very few other visitors made our guided tour very educational for when we saw the larger, more crowded museum in Xian.

Are there taxis waiting? We need to go to the airport after our visit their and would like to go from city center by bus.
Escrita el 9 de febrero de 2019
How long does it take by taxi from Citadines Central Xi'an Hotel to Hanyangling Museum?
Does the museum close early in December?
Thanks.

We went from the north Xi'an gate, took about 45mins to an hour. Costed 100 yuan but im pretty sure we were over charged for the gates. Tourist bus number 4 took around an hour, but doesn't go all the way into the city but it only costs 2 yuan each;recommended for the way back. It is on the way to the airport if you are willing to pay a driver that wait.

Is there a café, restaurant or place to eat on site?
Escrita el 9 de octubre de 2015
I do not remember seeing a restaurant there. There might have been a small store where you might get a snack. When I visited two summers ago there was not any services in the area.
