WOW! As a food conniseur, this was one of the highlights of my trip. A football field sized room full of food history and memorabillia dedicated to the south.
Ioved every mj m ute of it.
I never knew so much history, brands, and popular fads are Southern. I definitely didn't know Krispy Kreme or Lil Debbie have Southern roots.
Fascinating was how they showcase e d and featured each Southedn state.
Before I realized it a few hours had passed. The entrance is a full flat mzual roll-in glass door. The layout of the museum offers great spacing of the material that using my powerchair was no problem. I was able to fit in every nook and cranny a d did not crash into one bite of which there are many liquor, Absinthe and glassware, it could have been disastrous.
The manager and I had a major conversation about how it all came to be. I saw material about a personal favorite Edna Lewis. This for me was one of, if not, the highlight of my trip so far.

We arrived about 90 minutes before closing on a Thursday, found free street parking and had the museum to ourselves. Friendly and knowledgeable Camille gave us an orientation, made us a lovely French 75 and then let us explore the quirky displays. Everything from historic products, iconic dining spots, classic cookware to recipes will bring back memories and make you want to get cooking or perhaps just eating. There are also classes offered for those who may be interested. We picked up a cute tea towel and cookbook as souvenirs and left for a nearby wine shop they recommended.

I get what they were going for concept-wise but the execution could definitely use some work. The information was interesting but you gotta work for it so pack your patience. I wasn't exactly sure what you had to do to be able to sit in on a cooking demo, that part was not well explained. But the ticket price isn't horrible even without it.

Small but interesting museum. The cooking class with Chef Dee is a highlight, so check into that! Taking the class also comes with a short presentation by a staff member about some of the exhibits and the history of the building. So glad we had it on our schedule.

This was informative and fun! It also houses the Museum of the Cocktail. Great history of both food and drink, broken down into sections by state. There are cooking classes available (both Cajun and Creole, with advance reservation). A group of school kids had been there as we arrived, and they made too much Bananas Foster, so we got free dessert! There are really good books for sale, too. Don't sleep on this! We went right after lunch at Cafe Reconcile, a great segue.

We were looking at the map and this place just popped up. We were delighted not only with the museum but with the wealth of information provided by the young woman who was working there. The building has some history to it, and there is interesting overlap with the civil rights history in the city. Recommend very highly for that, but it's also just plain fun.

Really great museum that combines the history of Southern cooking and American
cocktails. Products from different southern states and their history are displayed. Very well presented and nostalgic. Would love to come back sometime for a cooking class.

I had a wonderful time at the creole cooking class. It was very hands-on and I was able to try several techniques that I’ve read about but not actually done before. The chef-owner and her assistant were friendly, helpful, and inspiring, and the lunch we prepared was delicious. One nice touch is that they take pictures during the class and share them after so your hands remain free to chop and stir and flambé. I’m so glad I took a chance on this as a solo traveler. It was a highlight of my trip.

Excellent tourist level cooking class. Mainly everyone preps the food for the one pot meal. Lots of good cooking techniques are explained to you. The museum was really fun to walk through as it brought back memories of kitchens you may have grown up in.

I did not eat there. I only enjoyed the museum which is outstanding.

Under an hour. It's one big open room, about the size of a car or furniture showroom, maybe 8-10,000 square feet.

We were there when they opened so were able to get parking right in front on the street.
