I enjoy seeing old Forts and this was very interesting. The staff was friendly in the Visitor Center and I enjoyed the exhibits. If you have time, you should stop.

The fort is worth a visit. The officers quarters (which were authentic) that you can visit were well presented and the main ticket office were staffed by well informed park rangers and able to provide lots of information about what you are seeing here.

We had a wonderful experience! The museum and displays were informative and highly interesting. Dressing up as characters made it the so much fun!

Such a wonderful hidden gem. My family loved the whole experience from start to finish. The rangers, Sheila and Rick, really made the whole tour extra special! Will come again.

One of the most informative stops about the area. Very well preserved artifacts. One got the feeling of what life may have been at the fort. Many interesting people involved in the fort. Allowed you to see the history and culture of a different era.

Wonderful stop and very well maintained. Staff was very knowledgable. We did the museum and the fort. There are a couple of the original houses they have kept up and outfitted with period furniture. Very interesting. Well worth the stop

HISTORY OF THE SOLDIER April 13 & Sunday 14th. Saturday was fantastic! Great encampments, informed men and women helping out at all the booths, cannon fire, beautiful vintage guns shooting blanks, open buildings with great displays and the dutch oven meal was delicious!

Fascinating post-Civil War western post for the period when infantry and cavalry were sent west to "protect" settlers and miners. Three minutes off I-17 and a great stop off if you're on an outbound or return route to Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, or like us to Jerome and Prescott.
Four very well preserved buildings surrounding a huge parade ground, including the commanding officer's house (which was super cool), two officer's houses/quarters, the surgeon's home/office and the camp's headquarters all original or nearly so and nicely furnished. This is about the best preserved of the period posts and beautifully maintained by AZ. These aren't ruins but all in ready-to-move-in period-furnished condition. The commanding officer's house had a "three-holer" out back including a child-sized seat. A first for me.
Admission was an easy $7 and well worth it. The park ranger was an excellent docent talking about the period, life on the post, arms of the day, and such. We loved the history and the walk.

We spent the night in a local campground and in the morning we had time to visit Fort Verede state park. One of the volunteers was full of information about shared with us the history of the Fort and history of the area. We were able to do a walk through on our own spending as much time as we wanted. They have 2 of the original buildings available to walk through and see the furniture of the time. Very interesting.

Yes, leashed pets are allowed everywhere except in the museum. They are allowed throughout the grounds and in all the historic buildings.
