Das Haus von 1906 wurde als Museum und Restaurant gestaltet dazu ein genialer Garten der liebevoll gepflegt wird.
Die Besitzerin spricht deutsch und englisch und erklärt alles liebevoll - man kann auch kleine schätze kaufen

We stayed in this beautifully restored hotel last September. The service is friendly and personal, the local food delicious, the location by the river incomparable, and the antique shop interesting. Salay is a nice town to wonder round, and Salay House is definitely the place to stay.

Salay house is gorgeous! It is a hotel gift shop and restaurant. Each one is so nice a and well done. It’s the best thing in salay. If want an authentic town see Myanmar go to Salay. I visited it on a stop on a scenic Irrawaddy cruise. It was my favourite town that we stopped at. It felt like going back in time. But the story of this hotel/restaurant/gift shop is AMAZING! So a husband and wife run this hotel. He is a doctor and beyond that did all the landscaping and electrical in the hotel, which is impeccable. If that wasn’t enough he built a wing of the hotel. But what makes the place really unbelievable is they use some of the profits to give the entire town free medical. They really do that. It blew my mind! If go there stay there. We also bought two gorgeous rings there one garnet and a amethyst ring. Also the food and rooms are so nice!

Thanks indeed for your lovely comments. We do appreciate your highlights " Salay as my favorite town, amazing shop and restaurant, doctor for local community with compliments" made us very happy and motivated.
During our stay in Salay for 3 years, we try to help local people in medical and educational as much as we could with our compliments and also some operations in government hospital.
Thanks for buying some local souvenirs you bought at Salay House.

Called into Salay House obviously the owner takes great pride in it , there is a shop for nick nacks and a nice garden overlooking the Irrawaddy river where you can enjoy a drink or two.

A lovely place to visit in Salay after seeing the temples and monasteries. Classy merchandise, really friendly owner and staff, beautiful gardens with a great view over the Irrawaddy, super food and 'Burmese tea.'

During out visit of this place we head a stop at salay house. IT is a lovely place, Nice to see the original trading house , with beautifull garden in the back and terace with God view over the river. The food was excellent. ( fish curry, pork ponye with black beans and the roselle leaves salat with bamboe ) . Now they have some nice sleeping rooms with super view over the river side.

If you want a rest from tour activities, this is a good place to rest and shop (prices aren't cheapest but everything is nicely laid out). There are cold drinks and nice garden overlooking the river

Sale or Salay is a fascinating small town on the Irrawaddy and is worth a visit in its own right as there is so much colonial architecture. Much is badly in need of repair but it remains utterly fascinating. Within the town is Salay House and Cafe. The house has been restored and offers a small museum area and a shop selling quality local crafts. the cafe is also a gem. I believe it is all the work of an American and his colleagues. He is a tour director on the "Irrawaddy Explorer" river boat.

The museum part of this operation is in its infancy. There are precious few artifacts and as such not worth a special trip. It is located upstairs from the gift shop. The gift shop is worth a visit and its review is a separate review
