After reading this review...I am thinking you are the perfect person to answer my question. I hope you don't mind me emailing you.
We are going to Cape Town after a 10 day Habitat build. We have never been there. Would we be better staying "in town"...I have been looking at "One and Only". Are hotels in Clifton and Camps Bay too isolated? I read one reviewer for a place in Camps Bay and he said, "You have to taxi to most places anyway so you might as well stay in a place that has a lovely atmosphere." True?
Please share your thoughts when you have a moment.
You should stay in Clifton or camps bay in my view. It as close to everything as anywhere else and camps bay has lots of restaurants and has a nice cosmopolitan feel to it. Also many of the hotels have great views which I appreciate.
Honestly, South Africa is not a place to walk around much by yourself. Cape Town is pretty safe (in most places), but distances are just quite far so you need to take an Uber or rent a car anyway. You can stay closer to town but it's not that pretty and the shopping mall is not what you come to Cape Town for... the beaches in Clifton and Camps bay are SOO stunning and I would stay there 10x over staying in the city centre. Unless you have some business to do in the city centre... but as a traveller I think Clifton / Camps Bay is so much more stunning. It's only a 10 minute drive into the centre anyway, so not far at all. Hope it helps, enjoy!
