I know the La Paz area offers amazing beaches and water experiences, but what is the actual town of La Paz like? Is there anything quaint or old style Mexican about it? Or is it more just a basic town, not very special, with an incredible location being the reason it's special?
Just curious. Thanks so much for anyone taking the time to answer!
Hello Dear Visitor,,La Paz is a city with a small town face, quiet, secure and pacefully, here you will find different places that represents Mexico , like restaurants, tours, places, museums and good people. Is Special cause it's marvelous beaches and amazing places, not too commercial yet, its located just in the heart of the Mar de Cortes, the aquarium of the world, fantastic and amazing places like the Spiritu Santo Island and spectacular tours like the Whale Sharks Swimming ,, definetly you will enjoy it !!!
Hello. I think La Paz offers great beaches- OUTSIDE of La Paz by car or taxi. The town itself is not particularly quaint certainly not like any of the old colonial towns. It has some nice places to eat but its more of a base for the sea lions or whale shark trips and the surrounding beaches.
It feels more like small city anywhere, except along the beautiful beaches and marinas. That does not mean I don't recommend it, the beach area is substantial with many natural wonders. The seafood is beyond description. Within a couple hours drive there are smaller more old style Mexican towns on the coast that are fun to visit as well, but rather rustic for most visitors looking for a home base.
Sorry this is a very late reply you may have already gone there. The town itself is not as charming as the colonial towns. It doesn't offer much its the scenery that is the attraction.
