We arrive mid morning and plan on getting the shuttle to the hotel and then we have Blue Jays tickets for the afternoon. What is our options to get downtown? Prefer not to take the bus and figuring taxi will cost $50+.
That is correct - Taxi will cost $50+.
The best option is to take the UP Express train straight to Union station. The layover pass can be purchased only online or at the station directly at the UP Express counter. The layover pass is approximately $12.00 per person there and back as long as it is within 7 hours. Otherwise the price is $12.00 per way.
Take the GO Train to Union Station. It’s about $12 one way. Or, take the airport shuttle back to Pearson and hop on the UP Express (train). Takes about 25 minutes to get downtown. About same price.
Unless I’m mistaken both Lyft and Uber are in Toronto. Those are options beyond a cab or bus. Or rent a car, driving there is no different than driving in the US.
Going back to the airport terminal 1 and catching up express is a great option but its not cheap, so I would say it depends how many of you there are. Check up express prices online and see, if u are 3-4 u might be better off with a taxi
Union Pearson Express is a dedicated air-rail link that speeds travellers from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Union Station in the heart of downtown Toronto.
They have a website.
I would suggest getting the shuttle back to the airport, once you are settled and take the Union Pearson train to downtown. It is comfortable, quick and drops you off in the heart of the city within minutes walking distance to the Jays game.
There aren't too many other options, beyond taxi, bus or Uber. You could take a taxi to Yorkdale Mall then hop on the Subway which will take you downtown. A lot of people use that option to get DT when they don't have a vehicle.
Have you considered Uber?
Sorry I don’t know, as we usually are staying there because we’re flying somewhere; I’d suggest contacting the hotel. They would know your best options for getting downtown. Good luck
