We have booked a hire car for our upcoming stay and hotel have reserved a a parking permit but I have just been in Bristol on another trip and I am wondering if we really need A car or if we could simply use the bus to get about from the hotel down to city centre and train station?
Any advice gratefully received
I would echo the other answers. If you are only going to visit in and around the city centre then using the buses is your best option, and you don't need a car. You can also get buses to and from Clifton village, and the zoo is easily walkable. If you want to explore outside of Bristol (Cotswolds for example) then you will need a car.
Walking into the centre of Bristol was easy to navigate from the hotel and takes about 45 minutes. There are plenty of buses running from close by so unless you need to travel outside of the city centre I wouldn't bother with a car. The Zoo is a 10 minute walk away and Clifton centre and the bridge about 20. You will see much more on foot. Enjoy.
Impossible question to answer definitively. It is entirely dependent upon how much luggage you are carrying, and how fit you are.
Hi,the 38 Hotel in Clifton Down is only 15 minutes walking from the train station clifton down but it up a hill. The walk was nice. Have a lovely holiday.
Hi given the traffic in Bristol if your intention is just to go to the City centre and train station I would use public transport , but if you need a car for further afield I would go for the permit I worked in Bristol for years and was totally confused by recent changes to layout and speed restrictions. We walked from the Hotel it’s not that far.
