This campement is really simple. It lies just out of the village of Thionck Essyl near the water and the mangroves. The campement consists of an "impluvium", a round building with an openair-middle that lead through light and water. The shape of the roof is made so, that the water will run down into the impluvium middle. Campement Abeu Koum has very simple rooms. There's only a bed, a mosquito-net and a chair. There's a window but you'll have to close it at night because of the insects. Our bed was very "sweaty". Later on we discovered that the matress was covered completely with a plastic cover, so that was the reason why it was so hot and dampy in our room! The toilet and the shower are outside. There is no electricity available, so you can't upload your batteries. There is only a small light in the open air "restaurant", which is mainly a roof and 2 walls. The shower is an african shower, which mean there is a bucket filled with water and an empty bottle. You throw the water over your body, and that's how it works. It was pleasant to use it though. The toilet had no flush, you have to throw a bottle of water to flush it. One night we've seen a big rat in the toilet! The campement is small and looks attractive, even though there is not much to do. The staff, owner Bonis and his staff are helpfull, but have no idea how to handle. The concept is 1.150 CFA per person per day. This is inclusive 3 meals a day. It's cheap for what you get. But you can't really choose. There is fish or chicken and there is rice. For potatoes we had to wait 2 days, they had to come from I don't know where, even though we saw plenty of them in the village. We were the first guests since 5 months, so you can imagine this place is very quiet. Too quite for us, there was just not much to do. But we were lucky to see dances in the village. We spotted some crocs too, but very small ones in the lakes nearby. For birdlovers this is a paradise, there are plenty of nice coloured birds around. The driver/guide sleeps for free here. You can contact Bonis by mail;…
