We wanted somewhere near Kingsmead for cricket so this place was convenient and cheap taxi ride - we had a hire car from airport as well On arrival we had a friendly greeting and were showed around a lovely property which consists of main house where the family that manage /own it live plus breakfast room. The rest of the grounds contained some cottages and individual rooms of various sizes and a pool area. For the first couple of days all seemed lovely and nothing was too much trouble but it did go downhill a bit to a point that on check out day we were treated quite rudely So, what are the problems... The rooms are dark and for us not helped by chairs stacked in one window Beds nice with lots of pillows but aircon ancient and too noisy Bookings.com advertises as having dstv (satellite TV) but we had 4 blurry channels The kitchen had cooker/microwave/fridge but hardly any cutlery or glassware so almost impossible and you don't want to knock on a family door and ask for more As the family is on site, you get the nice feel of a family fun place but ruined a bit by noisy dogs (woken up by them a few times) and dog pooh on the grass Equally they tended to use the pool area with own children so made you feel like you couldn't use the pool When we did use the pool it felt like we were being watched and at one point one of the owners came out "looking for the cat" although it felt more like being checked up on The last day was not enjoyable. We were asked to check out early - they should have asked the day before not same day - we weren't in a position to so it was then left that we could check out at 11. The owner stopped being friendly after that I then had a swim in the pool while waiting for my friends - we were told that even though check out was 11 we could continue to use facilities - at about 10.15 the owner came out to ask me when I would be showering as it was 10.30 - I found myself explaining myself when actually I wanted to say "we will be out if the room by 11 so go away, I am not a child" Personal view is - stay if you need somewhere cheap and good location for durban but only if you plan to just sleep there ie not use facilities during the day and, get room far from barking dogs Breakfast is average with useless toasters and instant coffee …
