1.9km of the N12 approximately 100km from Kimberley. Oom Jaco and staff friendly and welcoming. Rooms simple but neat and comfortable. Great place for a stay over to and from Cape Town. Value for money.
Every room in the now BnB, or SC is different and from a very bygone era. Smacked of memories from my childhood days of travel. It is extremely affordable, so expect a little dust (it is the Karoo after all), a few wonky electrics, even if nobody at the always open front desk (call the cell number prominently displayed). Make yourself at home and home it will be, except if you live in a place where you cannot put your feet up. The kitchen is available for use if you are nice and ask accordingly. The trains pass within 10metres of the front yard .... we loved the lulling sound as they passed. We camped, a lovely piece of green in the dry semi-desert under stunning shady trees. Great walks around farm with many varied animals. History abounds. Of course we will return. So what if the owner is bit wary of all these internet booking sites, can't blame him. I loathe being hounded by them all. And you keep your prices accordingly low. Thank you Jaco for the great overnight stay, both to our Knysna destination and back. Next time we intend at least 3 or 4 days to really soak up your Witput and surrounds. All the best.…
I booked a night's stay telephonically. The owner did not want me to book through SafariNow as he would have to pay commission. I requested a confirmation email, which he refused to do so I had no proof of my booking. When we were close by, I clicked on the map on Safari Now web page and it took us on a completely incorrect route. On phoning the owner, he was totally unhelpful, rude and annoyed that we had gone onto the web page map directions to find the lodge. We had been travelling the whole day I was ratty with him and asked him why he did not mention to us that we must NOT use the map directions on the web. Most people travel with a GPS and use this method for finding places. He then called me back and told me he didn't like my attitude I must find alternate accommodation. His attitude was disgusting, rude and totally uncalled for!…
