Muy buen hotel, lastima que sufrimos un asalto en plena habitacion, 4 hombres que abofetearon a una mujer y robaron telefono, joyas y algo de ropa. El staff del hotel amable, asustados, llego la policia y pues lo que uno puede imaginarse, mil disculpas y cero resultados.

Consejo sobre las habitaciones: Tener cuidado de no ser asaltados, cerrar bien las puertas

We value the safety of our guests above all else, and are truly horrified that this incident occurred. The perpetrators gained access to the property through first an electric fence and then cut their way through our security fence which is of an extremely high, international standard. We have spotlights lighting up the trees in the olive grove, and they managed to find the one blind spot, where they must have sat and worked at the fence, as cutting that fence would have taken a long time. We have 3 security guards who patrol the entire property at all times, and this is closely monitored by a “tagging system”. Ie, they need to ‘tag” at a number of strategically positioned points at regular intervals throughout the night. With immediate effect, we have now brought in 2 extra security guards, and between them, one guard is based at the bottom perimeter 24/7, while the other 3 guards continue to patrol the entire property. All our suites are also fitted with panic buttons, so that guests are able to alert us at any time of a problem, and a manager lives on-site and is available at all times for assistance with any problem.

We have already reviewed what we thought were our very stringent security measures, and are already busy installing further measures in the form of alarm beams, razor wire, additional lighting, improvements to the existing electric fence, and meetings with our security company to discuss and improve existing protocol.

As these guests know, we have done our utmost to assist them with all necessary arrangements, and we appreciate their amazing attitude and strong, positive personalities. We apologise unreservedly that these guests were subjected to this, no-one should have to go through this – much less as a tourist to a foreign country. It is very sad for Namibia as a whole. We are only grateful that no-one was injured and that it was clearly not the intention of the perpetrators to harm anyone – the slap apparently occurred when the guest in question felt she may have been on the verge of losing emotional control during this extremely stressful situation.

The Namibian police did respond well, both at the time of the incident and the next day when they returned to take fingerprints, and statements etc. It is unfortunate that that their investigation has not borne any results yet, but these things can take time and we would like to give you our assurance that the police do view this case in a very serious light indeed, and that the investigation is still actively underway. We are obviously assisting them as much as we possibly can, and will continue to do so.

Once again, we are so sorry that this incident happened and we sincerely hope that it does not detract too much from the rest of your trip throughout Namibia. We will remain in touch as we sort out all the administrative issues of this incident, and remain completely committed to assisting as much as we possibly can – both to yourselves and to the police who will hopefully be able to apprehend these people.
