I actually visited over 5 years ago. This is just a nice break from the rest of the world. You feel like in a little piece of heaven all your own. I recall the staff was so friendly and the food they served was delicious.

Misleading pictures on internet.
The house itself looks lovely but is in dire need of a thorough clean from top to bottom. The bathrooms and kitchens need some major upgrade. The surfaces in the kitchen were sticky. One fridge, the door wouldn't close properly. They were both dirty.
The place is not well kept. The gardens are over grown and the playground is an accident waiting to happen. The slide was a hazard. It's a pity considering we had so many kids amongst ourselves as that was one of the main attractions of this place.
The 'outhouse' was equally dirty. Probably hasn't been cleaned in months. My kids looked at the bathroom and refused to shower in the dirty shower cubicle.
We all felt cheated considering what pictures we saw on the internet.
Would never recommend this place to anyone. I Would rather go camping than stay in a place like this.

Would not recommend
The house is totally run down.
Toilets and bathrooms need work. There are stains on all the bathroom fixtures and fittings. The cisterns are still leaking.
The place was not clean, with cob webs and dust. The rooms had not been made by the time we reached there.
The kitchen was too tired, the oven didn't work properly and the fridges leaked.
The children's play area is dangerous for children, the monkey bars and slides are riddles with broken metal and rust. Tetanus very likely. The wooden slide has termites and is falling apart.
The garden was not maintained, it would have been nice to be able to use the garden.
They have rabbits in a hatch, they live in their own poo. Really crappy conditions, pun intended.
Really not what we expected, the pictures on Airbnb were completely deceiving.
John and Joel were great, but require help.
Definitely wouldnt reccomend going, deeply unsatisfied.

Would not recommend, not maintained or as advertised
The house is quaint and colonial but needs major upgrades and cleaning. The house is not kept in good order, the gardens are overgrown and unkept, children’s playground is broken and in shambles, bathrooms are very old and leaking pipes. It’s a huge disappointment and I would not recommend this property at all.
The rabbit enclosure is a health hazard where it looks like it’s never been cleaned and is disgusting. The dogs are in poor condition too.
Looks like the owner does not care about this property anymore and the staff are not being monitored or told what to do.

House in dire need of an upgrade
The House while large and retaining the colonial look, could use some simple modernization . The toilets leak, the cisterns and basins are stained, the curtains don’t fit etc.
While retaining the rustic loom and feel, some basic maintenance can help make for a better experience.
The staff are experienced and helpful. The meals were great, mature gardens are beautiful and relaxing.

Relaxing just outside Nairobi
Perfectly for usage as a retreatment place for trainings and workshops, but also for individual stay, as it is a very quiet and beautiful place in the middle of the coffee fields, just north of Nairobi.
The meals are based on bring-your-own-food, but with the fantastic (!) chef always around, every meal will become a banquet.
Less than an hour from Nairobi intl. airport it is easy for trips to Nairobi, Thika and Meru county (Mt. Kenya!) with many nationla parks and conservancies around.

Manyika house is a very special place
We've got a very friendly welcome when we arrived at Manyika house. It's a beautiful place with lots of history in it. There is a very peaceful energy in en around the house. The garden is beautiful with special old trees in it. While sitting in de garden, mount Kenya showd himself to us. Joëlle is a very good cook, the food is very tastfull and his desserts are yummie. I had a very pleasant stay at Manyika house, hope to return some time in the future!!

Would not recommend
For the amount we paid I would not recommend the place. We were a group of 4 and took the cottage. The shower flooded and the toilet was a hot mess. The place did not look as advertised considering we kept being threatened to pay the whole amount or else our reservation would be given out despite paying a deposit 🙄. We were a very disappointed lot and would definitely not go back.
Further we were not allowed to access the playground from the front because apparently passing there would bother the white couple in the main house and we were forced to go through the back where I guess the staff quarters are. Smh. 😒
Joel was however very helpful and made our stay bearable.

this places needs renovations bathrooms
what is seen online in terms of bedrooms is deceiving than actual size of the room.
Bathrooms need immediate renovations.
Joel, the chef/cleaner was very friendly.
Location is nice who is looking for quiet relaxation.
I can only recommend this place if the bedrooms and bathrooms are renovated.

Muy bien
Sólo pasamos allí una noche, pero te da tiempo a ver que la propiedad es una pasada y piensas que es una pena no poder pasar más tiempo allí. Estilo colonial, sin excesivos lujos pero con mucho encanto. Personal agradable.
