The booking process was easy, Peter replied to all my queries very promptly. We had a late flight so did not have time to stop for groceries, and he kindly supplied us with bread rolls, delicious home made jam, fruit, milk, tea, coffee and wine for our arrival and stayed up late to welcome us. There are 5 bedrooms in the property. Two doubles 'upstairs', next to the dining/living area and kitchen, with a toilet and shower room. There are another 2 with their own separate entrances downstairs, with another shower room and toilet, and also the washing machine. Then there is a 3rd double downstairs, again with its own entrance, and this is en suite. Peter had made 4 of the rooms up for us, but was completely unperturbed when we asked to use the one room he had not made up, and arranged to have it cleaned for us the next day. The property is quite old and 'rustic' and not without its foibles. The downstairs rooms do smell a bit fusty, probably due to the slow rate of drainage in this part of the house. It needed aired every day or it got quite smelly, but unfortunately this allowed for all manner of beasties to access the room, and bedtime became a game of removing the crickets and trying to ensure we had killed all the mosquitos. This part of the house could benefit from some mosquito nets on frames to put in the windows so the place can be aired. The outlook for our room was lovely, with a lemon tree within plucking distance if I leaned out, and the mattress on the bed being firm and very comfortable, and all the bedding spotlessly clean. As the drain in the shower is so slow, we opted to use the shower upstairs which was also a bit slow to drain, but faster than the other. The kitchen has a double sink, cooker, microwave and there are 2 fridges and a freezer, perfectly good iron and ironing board to allow me to do our laundry which was necessary during our 2 week stay. Everything we needed was there, and we cooked most days at the house, without issue. The dining areas inside and out are lovely. The children slept upstairs and both said their beds were comfortable. The only downside was that there was only one fan for the whole house and the temperatures reached well into the high 30's during our stay and we all suffered a bit. More fans would be nice for us folk from cooler climates! The pool is lovely, with ample seating, and the gardens beautiful, with fruit trees (Peter invited us to help ourselves to fruit which the children loved) The village was lovely, with 2 well stocked shops and a couple of restaurants which we tried and were happy with. Best of all though was the care and attention that Peter supplied, we felt pampered and were made very welcome. On Sundays Peter and Alfons host beside the pool area with coffee and cake(or ice cream) and as we had a 2 week stay, enjoyed this twice. Its a perfect opportunity to socialise with the hosts and also the other guests from the other 3 smaller lets and we met some lovely people. We ADORED it here and would definitely recommend it. Peter is constantly making improvements to the property, and I'd have loved to have given him 5 stars, but the property is not without its issues. Certainly though, these are not insurmountable, and I have no doubt at all that Peter will keep improving things. Whilst there he put in an extra pump for the water supply and upgraded the WIFI (which works great) We would definitely return. Thankyou for a lovely lovely holiday!!
