Our room at Lavande was airy, spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was quite well equipped. Most importantly, the bed was very comfortable, and (with the windows shut and the air-con on low) the room was cool and very quiet. You absolutely wouldn't know you were 10 metres from a main road!
The courtyard is just delightful - a wonderful place to linger over breakfast while you marvel at the speed and dexterity of the house martins swooping around. When you step through the heavy wooden outer door, it feels like you are leaving the heat and bustle of the world behind you.
Evelyne and her husband have a little English, but we found it easier to communicate via our passable French. Evelyne seemed a little quiet at first but quickly warmed up.
The house is well situated for Uzès - stunning medieval town with the best French market I've come across anywhere - and for other destinations including the Cevennes.
