We received a full refund from Airbnb for the 15 nights we booked at this farmhouse and left after the 1st night. Starting with the nice picture which is shown along the lake, well that is not there anymore, the lake is currently smelly, unsuitable to swim in and they removed the nice seating, no sunflowers in sight. To start with the positive: the view is beautiful both out and inside the house! The end. I had many problems to communicate with the owner I had asked many times for detailed directions because Google Maps did not recognise her given address. She never gave them to me after numerous times asking for them nor a Location Pin. This resulted that we were routed over a mountain which took us 60 minutes! She kept on sending ME messages where I was and what time I would be there. I send her a picture of where we were and how to get to the house, other than "go to Lippiano" there was nothing. She also refuses to reply in English she only wants to communicate in Italian, her English is more than poor so she cannot communicate in English, plus she never gave a full answer I always had to ask a follow-up question which most of the time stayed unanswered.
Italy is struck by a heatwave (We live currently in Italy and it is hot!) and therefore I booked this house because it has/had AC. After I booked she told me that she did not have ac after me asking a few times in which rooms the AC was. She said that the house was cool and she had ventilators so we would be fine. Well, upon arrival the house was super hot and 0 ventilators were present and 2 AC-looking machines were not working. I contacted her immediately and asked her about this, her reply "just open the windows" and she hung up. The windows were open but there is 0 ventilation possible in this house and it was very very hot (+36 degrees outside). Later she sent me a message that an electrician would come the next day after 9 am...well that is a nice indication somewhere after 9 am on a Sunday in the Italian Campo and why do WE have to deal with your electrician and it is 26 degrees at night why do you not bring a ventilator so we can sleep? No apology nothing and she thought it was more than normal that we would wake up at 9 am and waited the full day till/ IF an electrician would come. Besides the heat, the house was dirty especially the kitchen and bathroom were really dirty and it was clear that she had hardly cleaned but did charge me 60 euro cleaning fee. Everything you touched was sticky in the kitchen, the first 3 knives we took out of the drawer were dirty, even the inside of the cupboards. No soap, no dish soap, no dishwasher tablets no hand towel, nothing. The bathroom had old dirt, hairs in the shower and had not seen a stroke of soap in a very long time and to complete it there was only half a roll of toilet paper with a big stain on it. The other bathroom looked better but the shower doors did not close and it had 2 rolls of toilet paper with just a few papers left, one was half torn, no soap either, very hygienic. Both showers had hardly any water pressure and you will have 5 minutes of warmish water. When I told her all of this, her reply: nobody ever complained about the shower, but nothing of the state of the bathroom, or toilet paper. Yes, the attitude of Mariella is rare. The house had many parasitic wasps and we had to spray the entire house with our own brought insect sprays to kill off the wasps and all the other insects because Mariella finds insect-window screens in the campo apparently not necessary, I told her about the wasps..0 reply. 3 days before our arrival she messaged me if I would bring my own towels? I told her NO, then a difficult communication about the size/amount of towels which I did not really understand what she was trying to tell me. But if you stay 15 days with two people you will need a stash of towels even more if there is no washing machine and I could not use hers, No, I had to go to a laundrette which is 25 minutes by car. I asked her if she would change sheets/towels after a week, well she would and plus a cleaning would have cost me 60 euro? I said no to the cleaning but wanted, of course, a change of linen and towels, so was this included? This answer stayed also unanswered. On the bed were 2 towels pp and 2 handkerchief size towels. Mariella has the opinion that it is normal to have 2 towels pp for 7-8 days. I told her right away that I did not accept this, her answer: this was what you get and she would change after 7 days.
Wonderful internet on the terrace she told me, well there is hardly any and was limited in sending an email but that is it, inside the house, it worked well. We stayed 24 hours and heard 16 hours of neighbouring dogs barking and when I got out of the car I stepped in big dog poop which was all over the grass where you had to park. The house is attached and the neighbouring entrance is attached to the downstairs bedroom and it sounded if the neighbour was walking inside of your bedroom. There are more houses and quite a lot of cars were coming and going and as there is no paved road but gravel/loose stones it was quite noisy. That is another thing if you have an expensive car be aware that the gravel can cause damages and the road is very steep. Mariella lives 5 minutes away but did not find it necessary to stop by and talk things through after all of this or even offered to wait for the electrician so we could go out. We had it, called Airbnb, they investigated and after a few hours, we received a full refund. Luckily we found a new house within the hour and where we are now is really nice, great communication, same price, with ac and ventilator, window screens, washing machine, beautiful views and 0 noise, no neighbours and lots of towels and it is clean with soap, new toilet rolls and cleaning products. The great reviews for this farmhouse are just puzzling me. But if you decide to go bring your own ventilators (in summertime) towels, cleaning products, toilet rolls, soap, mosquito net and insect spray and set your directions to Lippiano to avoid a 60-minute mountain route. Very bad experience and can not recommend this at all and the attitude of this owner is beyond me.
