This accommodation was a fantastic find. Although slightly off the beaten track, 2 hours from Madrid, the road network was great and th journey was worth it.
El Robledo itself is a small town with around 6 shops for every day essentials. Further afield (around 25 miles), there is a very large supermarket complex which cater for every need. There is a lovely river that runs through the town, where the locals swim and relax, with a children's play park and outside gym equipment. There is also a municipal swimming pool and a country park for the adventurous!
Casa Rural La Alcazaba is situated at the far side of the town, next door to the owners second 'castle' and surrounded by farmland. It is very peaceful, with only the sound of the odd chicken clucking and tractor passing by.
The property was very well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher etc and full air conditioning through out. The amount of everyday items such as cups, cutlery, plates etc were in abundance, although maybe some plastic cups would have been useful for the children to have around the pool instead of glasses.
The attention to detail by the owners was second to none, even providing bathroom cabinets full of useful items such as plasters etc. with mountains of toilet rolls, huge piles of towels - all the little things that take stress out of a holiday.
The outside space was very well looked after, with lush green grass and lots of plants. The area around the pool had plenty of chairs and sunbeds, and the pool itself was perfect for all of the family with a gentle gradient from the shallow end to the deep end. The outside eating area was large enough to seat 20+ people and with the addition of a gigantic chalk board, lots of fun was had with after dinner games.
Overall a lovely property with very conscientious owners.
