I have to say our Casa Estrella experience was nothing short of fabulous. The facilities, the cleanliness, the staff, the view, the climate, the gardens, the city of Guanajuato, all wonders to enjoy. The rooms at Casa Estrella are like museums of Mexican folk art. The pool is lovely, and the clay tennis court was generously resurfaced for us by management and staff early in our stay. Breakfast on the balcony in the warm morning sun overlooking the valley was a special treat, as was the sunlit exercise room for morning stretches. The city itself, an easy, cheap, and fun bus ride away, is vibrant and full of surprises with frequent street events. If you are a history, arts and culture enthusiast, Guanajuato is a treasure trove. There were few gringo tourists while we were there, but the city was packed with Mexicans on the weekends...a refreshing change from resort holidays. A special thanks to owners Sharon and Ralph, and to manager Javier and staff for making our stay such a unique and wonderful experience.

Heart warming location above the city which provides views of Guanajuato that are unbelievable! Down a cobblestone lane you are within minutes of the breathtaking beauty of the Valenciana church and the magical history of the local mines. Javier and the staff were warm and welcoming and always accommodating for what ever we needed. We absolutely adored our stay!

We were incredibly happy with this rental. It's a bit outside of the center city which means incredible views and no noise from a city that has quite a bit of noise in the evening. I was concerned it was too far out but glad I ignored this worry - cabs are inexpensive and plentiful ($3 US) and there's a bus stop just down the road (about a quarter) that works just fine. And if you have a car there's parking but I would not recommend a car rental if you're coming from another country and touring solely in Guanajuato. Like most cities, who wants to deal with parking! The grounds were spectacular and the hosts/staff were incredibly hospitable. You will need to take advantage of the beautiful kitchen or go into the center for dinner - unless you enjoy artisanal beer. If so, there's a close restaurant that features this. One of the more gourmet restaurants in the area is also near and outside of the city. Don't be scared of taking the cabs - the accommodations and grounds are worth it. They will also arrange area tours for you - we enjoyed seeing the ruins near San Miguel. This used to be a B&B but it changed to longer term rental which is why there aren't many reviews here.
