Big black scorpion in #2. AC vents to outdoor sitting area. No WIFI reception. Owners unconcerned. Negligent.
I was an off season renter July-November. Huge black scorpion first day and small brown deadly one next day. I had room #2. It was dank dark musty in need of paint and new everything. AC purged water all over the floor. No hot water for days in shower. No WIFI practically ever. Owners never there. Stay in Playa del Carmen MOST of the time. Never around to greet guests. Gate had a code lock that was because they weren’t there for arrivals. An illogical lock. Many problems. Drunk outside my room moved into the bushes. Owners didn’t do a thing. She had a “velvet butt”. Ie. Couldn’t be bothered with you if there was a problem.

Muy buen alojamiento.
Es un muy buen alojamiento; son como unos pequeños departamentos solo que no tienen cocina, la ubicacion esta perfecta y estaba muy limpio. El dueño mau siempre nos ayudo con toda la informacion y nos dio consejos y las direcciones, tambien tiene mucha privacidad lo unico que le falto era una ventana mas grande pero en lo demas estuvo muy bien.

Disappointing - not much was prepared
I booked this accomodation on AirBnb. It was the only time in Mexico that I was disappointed by an Airbnb place.
The owner seemed to be pretty nice and she gave me a lot of information before we came. She also told me that she will be out all afternoon, so she can't welcome us personally and will leave the key in a lock. That was no problem but when we entered the room it looked much different than on the pictures and many things were unsatisfying.
The air condition and the fan didn't work properly, so the air was very sticky and the atmosphere was like a basement room. The bed was smelly. There were no soap or flowers. And the toilet was making strange sounds. It seemed like the room was left alone for a month. I called the owner in the evening and she said she will not come back today because she is another city. Therefore we decided to move into a hotel called "Ginger" which was much better. So I lost 21 € of Airbnb fees!
Definitely NO Mucho Bonito!

Living Like A Local
I wanted to experience what it was like being a "local" during my most recent stay in Tulum which was why I decided to stay at Mucho Bonito because it was right in town and provided the most basic of amenities (drinkable water, clean bed, air conditioning)--all of which was what I was looking for in lodging for this trip, and it was exactly what I got.
Mucho Bonito is a rustic rental property located right down the block from one of the most popular streets in Tulum, and you are walking distance from everywhere else in town (including the ADO Bus Station if that is how you plan to get there), so you really only need a car if you plan to venture out of town regularly. Otherwise, for an additional 100 pesos/day (about $5.50/day), you can rent one of their bikes for the whole day to get to the beaches, cenotes, ruins.. and you're pretty much set. You can also walk to those locations if you aren't in a hurry, or take a cab for 70-100 pesos ($3-5) per way.
Marisol and Mao are very responsive and make sure you feel right at home even before you book! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for the "local" and simple experience like I did!
