Unfortunately, this place fell way below expectations. The Lodge is on a very busy road so the noise is unbearable. There were several maintenance issues and the place was not clean. We stayed only 3 of the 7 nights booked. Tried twice to knock on the owners door, no response. The owner did, eventually, give a very small refund but didn't accept much of my complaints.
I could definitely not recommend this place at all!

Great place to stay with friends and dogs
We’ve just stayed here for a couple of nights with another couple and 2 medium sized dogs.
This very well appointed little house provides plenty of privacy as well as lovely communal areas and a perfectly serviceable kitchen. There’s a beautiful balcony from the lounge/dining room with a view of happy chickens and ducks. Although there’s no garden you can find dog walks straight from your front door and this was perfectly acceptable to our energetic young Saluki and whippets.
So far as servicing is concerned everything seems like new and you’re met with a clean fresh smell upon arrival
We’d certainly recommend staying here to friends and look forward to returning ourselves one day..

Honest review- unfit for use
Honest review - MUST READ BEFORE BOOKING
We booked via a family member who had been suggested the lodge from a friend. We arrived to find the place directly on the main busy road (2 large and busy neighbouring campsites) this has been mentioned in previous reviews but unfortunately isn’t detailed on the website so please read reviews.
The most upsetting was that after a long journey we went to use he facilities on arrival and the toilet actually had excrement still in it and hairs and urine around the rim. On further investigation of the lodge the beds hadn’t been changed and a handle was hanging off the drawers. The kitchen was not clean and the place was extremely hot (hottest August bank holiday on record so appreciate not the owners doing- but keep in mind not well ventilated and as right on road windows are limited to the double doors)
The balcony - well- this is not useable as so small and directly over the loud fast flowing traffic. There is no garden space to use but you can overlook the owners garden if you’re prepared to breathe in car fumes.
There is no step into the front door which is steep and unsafe for children so definitely not suitable for family visits
We didn’t stay, we couldn’t, the owner wasn’t there to rectify the problems we had (not cleaned nor fit for purpose) we couldn’t call as no contact number on her emails and there is no internet signal and minimal phone signal. We drove to a place where i was able to send images and an email enclosing a telephone number but sadly didn’t hear anything from the owner. We had to book emergency accommodation at a nearby hotel for the night. We later received internet access once in the hotel and the owner had emailed to say the toilet was cleaned and we could return. Unfortunately this was too late as we already had to find somewhere to stay and on no occasion did she call us to discuss. Also the other issues had not been rectified so we wouldn’t return somewhere knowing it hadn’t been properly cleaned. We had to leave the next day and still after 24 hours hadn’t received a phone call. The owner seems to only deal by email but when suits her as I asked for a refund given the property it wasn’t fit for purpose and this was denied.
Nearly 3 weeks of stress and upset, a ruined weekend and no resolution I am still trying to receive monies from the owner. Unfortunately this is likely to escalate further as she doesn’t respond to emails and doesn’t pick up the phone so unable to resolve any issues. I note from previous reviews others have struggled recovering money from her too. Most unprofessional and has caused a lot of upset with no understanding or compassion from the owner who is only interested in taking your money. Only apology was for a dirty toilet. No other issues addressed and no other apology received. I hope no one else has to experience this.

Highly recommend
The Lodge was the perfect place to stay for our weekend on Mersea Island.
The owner Victoria was waiting to welcome us when we arrived. The Lodge was beautifully presented and all the amenities worked well. It was so lovely that a holiday let of this standard allowed pets.
There is parking next to the Lodge. However once we parked up we didn’t need the car as enjoyed the walks to the West side of the island to the beach & Marina (approx 20-30minute walk).
I would highly recommend this accommodation & would happy book to stay here again.

Perfect place to get away from it all
Had a long weekend with friends at The Lodge and the accommodation was perfect. The bifolding doors to lounge to balcony area made it with the lovely summer we having. The lodge has everything you need and if you never been to Mersea a great place to stay to explore.

Ideal place for a long weekend.
Had a lovely long weekend here. Small and cosy, the Lodge had everything we needed. Wifi was good so the children were happy. It was lovely and warm. I took food with me but there was a co-op in the village. Had a lovely walk round Cudmore grove country park on the only sunny morning we had. It was beautiful walking along the beach. Can imagine it is a beautiful place to stay in the summer, it was just a shame we had such terrible weather.

COSY TWO BED, QUIET HOME
We stayed in the LODGE for a week at the end of FEB. While one would need a car to get to the shops in Westmersea ( CO OP, TESCO, SPA) it is only a couple of miles. The heating was good even at that time of year so OK out of season. If you want peace and quiet and two large bedrooms the LODGE would fill the bill. The LODGE is equipped with all you need,

A beautiful barn conversion, with everything you need.
The Lodge is absolutely lovely. 2 nice bedrooms well fitted with quality furnishings. The Kitchen / living area is small but perfectly cosy. The Shower room too was nicely fitted and the shower was bliss.
The road can be noisy. Especially during harvest when we were there. But just have another glass of wine and you wont notice it.
Our hosts kept out of the way. But were there whenever there was a query.
Highly Recommended.

A great place to stay, except.......
The Lodge is a pretty little holiday home - modern, well-designed and stylish. Unfortunately it has one big drawback for me which is that it's right on the edge of a fairly busy road and the sound insulation is not great. Even with the windows and doors tightly closed, the traffic noise was intrusive and went on through most of the night thus making sleep very difficult. The sitting area looks out onto a small balcony with a patio door but sadly the noise prevented us from making full use of this. Maybe this wouldn't be a problem if you're used to noises off but I live in a quiet country lane and unfortunately notice noise!
The only other niggle was that we could have done with a few more plates and bowls.
