....to stay in such a well equipped and comfortable apartment in such an ideal location. Away from the crowds of central Venice, Dorsoduro has much to recommend it and this apartment does too! Your own front door right onto a pretty canal, the vegetable barge just steps away and within a hundred metres are two bakeries, ice cream shop, supermarket (on two floors!) and certainly more restaurants than you need - of all qualities, yet none of this impinges on your relaxation. If you are a party of four you may want to take a watwer taxi right to the door (about Eur.60) or if yiou take the vaporetto and get off at Ca Rezzonico you just walk 100m up the only alley to bring you onto a small square. Ca Leonessa is then diagonally across the square at "2 o'clock" - easy.

Wonderful location and beautiful apartment
The location was amazing, near the canal and lovely restaurants within walking distance. The apartment was well fitted out, very comforable and easy access to everything.

Excellent apartment in great location
Such a lovely apartment in a really fab area. Only 15 mins walk to st Marks Square but area is great with everything you need and some lovely restaurants which are not too expensive for Venice. Took a private water taxi to arrive and that was excellent and only took about 20 minutes. Going home we took the Aliguna ferrry from Ca Rezzonica (just a few mins walk from the apartment) direct to the airport. This took about 40 minutes and cost £15 euros per person. Buy tickets in advance. No need to change just direct to the airport. Jonathan was a pleasure to deal with and answered all my queries promptly before going. We also did the 3 islands trip going to Murano, Burano and Portcelli Only costs 20 euros and booked in St Marks Square where the boat departs from. Would definataely recommend and will return again.

Everything close at hand - mini-market, baker, 2 pharmacies (which we needed), restos, cafes, vaporetti, palazzi, specialist shops, (some very) nice people. Quiet. Warm (freezing outside).
Selfishly, we don't want to recommend this apt. because we want to be able to use it again ourselves, but equally selfishly we want it to keep going, so here's a 100 per cent recommendation. And we wish it and its owner well. Thank you Jonathan.

Amazing apartment in fantastic location
Ca' Leonessa is a great apartment and we had a fantastic stay here.
I was travelling with my parents, both of whom aren't as mobile as they once were, and I looked for an easily accessible apartment with good transport links.
Ca' Leonessa had both. The apartment is on the first floor (an easy climb for my parents!) and a very short walk to the Ca' Rezzonico Vaporetto stop. It was easy to get home after a day of walking, which encouraged my parents to go farther afield than they might have done.
The apartment is beautifully furnished, and four of us were easily (and comfortably) accommodated. We were met at the Vaporetto stop (our greeter was wonderful, even when we were late arriving. As a side note I'd highly recommend pre-booking a water taxi from the airport, or getting a taxi to the bus station and getting on the Vaporetto there...we waited for at least an hour at the airport to get on the Orange line down the grand canal!)
Everything is provided in the apartment, and there is a supermarket round the corner. There are lots of restaurants and bars nearby, and we didn't have to stray far to find somewhere lovely to eat in the evenings.
We had an amazing weekend, and I would definitely stay in Ca' Leonessa again...having a lovely base really made the weekend.

Great location - lovely unit couldn't ask for anything better - amazing bakery around the corner - floating fresh fruit/vegetable market just over the bridge - within walking distance to all touristy locations. Would highly recommend this unit.

Great location, good amenities
Campo San Barnaba is distant enough from the crowds to be pleasant and feel like a neighborhood, yet close enough to the Grand Canal and the Accademia Bridge to facilitate access to many main sights. And it feels very alive. From our 2nd floor windows (admittedly, when standing, not sitting on the sofa) we enjoyed watching the produce barge just across the canal, the painting class just below, and even the daily garbage barge making the rounds. A Punto Simply market is just around the corner, and the apartment kitchen is well-equipped. Plus lots of restaurants and other eateries very close.
A flickering-and-too-dim bathroom light fixture was annoying, and some window screens need repair, but the A/C and kitchen appliances worked well. There's even a washing machine, which we would have used if we had known about it before (don't remember if it's in the VRBO apartment description) and not already sent out some laundry at a prior stop on our vacation.
All in all, we're glad we stayed at Ca' Leonessa.

Perfect accommodation for two couples in Dorsoduro
Our second visit to Ca' Leonessa, just as good as the first. Jon replied quickly to my emails and booking was a breeze through PayPal. We loved living like locals in "our apartment", shopping and cooking meals, having coffee in St Barnabas Square, buying wine from the tiny shop in S. Margherita Sq, gelato all within a 5 minute walk. The lady in the supermarket deli was very helpful and patient as we tried all sorts of delicious things. The apartment was perfect for two couples. My only small complaint was that the fly screens didn't close and we had flies and mosquitos at times. Thanks again Jon.

Lovely apartment in superb location
The trip started well with a very efficient greetings service who met us off the waterbus and took us the short distance to the apartment. The apartment itself is as good as it looks on the website. The location was even better than we had realised, with a lovely view and easy access to a waterbus stop and two large squares containing numerous cafes, restaurants and bars. The supermarket is also close by. All in all an excellent base from which to explore Venice.
