River House was one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in over the years. Its location by the river is so quiet and yet only a stone’s throw from the bustling city centre. It was so good to park our cars at the beginning of our stay and leave them untouched for our entire visit; we just didn’t need to use them. Chester has much to offer and we particularly enjoyed two of the walking tours, a boat trip on the Dee, the Park Run in the Countess of Chester Country Park, a Treasure Trail round the city and several very tasty meals. The Boathouse Inn, just along from River House, gave us a warm welcome and tasty food. All in all I can’t recommend River House enough, it really is exceptional.

First impression. - Brilliant location, easy parking, easy access to City Centre. River House was defiantly 'Sparkling", clean, well laid out all you could possibly want in the way of fixtures and fittings.

Fantastic well equipped house in beautiful location. House was lovely and everything was beautifully clean. We had clear helpful instructions from host (Melanie) who was extremely helpful during booking especially as we had to postpone due to lockdown. It was worth waiting for! Great central location but also peaceful. We loved the ice cream shop and cafe next door and the lovely nearby cafes and restaurants. Great gym (called CH1) in the shopping centre which does daily and weekly rates for visitors. Loved the walk round the city walls Would highly recommend coming to River House.

We stayed at Riverhouse for three nights as soon as lock down ended a post Easter break. It couldn't have been more perfect. The house is beautiful and spacious, and had everything we needed for five of us. Melanie was a perfect host and made sure we were looked after, even leaving some goodies and flowers when we arrived. The location by the river was perfect and meant we could just walk into town, and enjoy ice creams and hot chocolate from the cafe next door! We would thoroughly recommend Riverhouse, and look forward to coming back soon.

We stayed here as a family of four just as lockdown eased. Melanie the host was great with communication before arrival and the house was presented beautifully and thoughtfully given the Covid situation. Super house and great location for all things Chester and access to north west and north wales

We visited the house on a number of occasions this year and find it welcoming and well organised. The decor is lovely and the outside space a real bonus. The house is very central for city centre with lots of great walks around the city and into the county. Melanie is very thoughtful and offers great information on services including chefs and spa. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Superb cottage with views over the River Dee and only five minutes walk to the centre of Chester: a perfect location. The three bedrooms have everything you could want including the most comfortable beds you could wish for and televisions too. The kitchen is large with a huge dining table and masses of cupboards and drawers with every kind of dining and cooking equipment and all of the very best quality. The sitting room is cleverly designed with good lighting to read by with corners to sit quietly and plenty of space to gather in a group. We were a family party, all adults but three generations, and River House was the ideal house and location for us to be together. We had travelled from various parts of the UK and this could well be our regular destination with good road and rail connections and excellent parking for four cars at River House. Online booking is the 'thing' these days but we really appreciated being able to talk to Melanie on the 'phone. She is extremely helpful and charming. Her restaurant information was invaluable and the information sent before our arrival was excellent with all the detail we needed.

Once again we had a wonderful xmas shopping weekend staying at melanie and Craig's beautiful river house. They make you feel so welcome. House is stunning warm clean very comfortable. Beds are perfect. Kitchen to die for. Plenty seating space and tremendous views. Would highly recommend you to stay here. Booked again for next year. Thanks melanie and craig.

Had a wonderful weekend staying at the River House Chester. The house is fabulous; clean, spacious and well stocked of essentials. The location of the house on the river is just beautiful and is also a very short walk to the city centre. This is the second time I have stayed in one of Melanie’s properties and I would not hesitate to recommend her as a host. Great communication throughout and really quick to respond to any queries we had once we were there. I’m sure we will be back!

What a wonderful place this is. It’s situated perfectly by the river but only a ten minute walk to all of Chester’s attractions. The place was clean and tidy and was equipped with all you needed.. went with friends and we all really enjoyed our time here. Was bustling with activity at the weekend with families enjoying the river but come the evening was lovely and peaceful. I would definitely recommend this house to those who want to enjoy the city but retreat to a lovely quiet place to wind down in the evenings.
