We stayed here for two weeks this month. From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the cleanliness and facilities but on going upstairs and coming across the roof terrace it turned from impressive to Wow. What a view, how could you fail to relax with that and the aerial display given by the red kites? Stresses of everyday life just slipped away. We absolutely loved Primrose Cottage and hope to return soon.

We went out: to explore sand dunes, a peat bog, woods, beaches, rock pools and even a submerged forest (at low tide when unsubmerged). There were buzzards, red kites, butterflies, dragonflies to be identified. Staying in we enjoyed a lovely view of mountains, river estuary, and all a well-cared for house and garden had to offer. The garden offered a sheltered sunny spot where we could drink coffee, read books and think and dream. And what a view of the night sky from the balcony, while the tawny owl in the neighbouring oak tree hooted at us. (Well, probably at another owl but we enjoyed hearing it!) We felt welcomed from the moment we booked; the bara brith awaiting us has to be the best I’ve had; a minor query while there was promptly answered both by Kate and the housekeeper and the issue simply and speedily resolved. A holiday here cans be active, peaceful, restful by turns. A great place to come to.

This property is easy to find although off the beaten track meaning a car is essential. There are various places of interest a short car journeys drive away. We enjoyed all the local towns within a half hour drive. The cottage itself is spacious and clean. The views from the dining area and balcony are fabulous. The cottage was advertised as having a TV but this was not working. However we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing week here which was aided by wonderful weather.

This is not necessarily in a location that is near to a lot of places. There is a musky/damp smell to the property that we tried to rid on arrival. The sofas seemed damp and the tv didn’t work that wasn’t replaced before the visit even though there was plenty of time to do so (from an email sent from the owner a month before arriving) The garden is well kept. There were quite a few cobwebs / spiders when we arrived so the cleaner could do a little better with ridding those really... I liked the cottage and the character it possesses, but, for the price that was paid a little more was expected really

We had such a comfortable stay here over the New Year period. When we arrived the cottage was warm and clean, and there was a lovely little welcome package to keep us on until our food order arrived. The kitchen was spacious and bright and very well equipped for all the cooking we did. The living room was gorgeous and so cosy and rustic. The bedrooms were clean, and nicely lit and the beds were very comfortable. This was lovely for a winter stay but I would love to go in the summer as well as there are two benches in the garden looking out over the rolling hills and nature reserve and beach that I would love to sit out on! Borth is really nice too!

This is a wonderful home with everything you need to have a great time. Delicious welcome pack:)The lovely outlook to the fields and estuary give a real sense of fresh air and calm and light. The location is great to get to a lot of great places and attractions. Thank you so much for having us here, we'd love to come back :)

Primrose Cottage was very well equipped and our stay there was fine except for a couple of issues and a niggle. There were two issues, one of which could have had unfortunate consequences if the risk it posed had materialised. The front door was opened and closed by a Yale-type self-locking lock and a gate latch and after two days we found by chance that the door had not been secured when closed.The lock on the door was lower than its receiving plate on the frame so it wasn’t engaging with a simple push or pull of the door. Only by applying strong upward pressure on the gate latch to raise the lock would it securely engage. We had to ensure that this pressure was applied when we went out or locked up for the night. The other main item was the door of the main front bedroom which was so tight in its frame that it could only be kept shut by pushing very hard on the door. If this wasn’t done it would swing wide open. Of course, a strong push to close meant that an equally strong pull was needed to open the door and in the middle of the night opening and closing again was very noisy and with other guests.....? The niggle was just the lock leading to the balcony which was in need of lubrication and partly corroded. We always had some difficulty in opening this door. This review is without prejudice - it is just our experience.

Primrose Cottage is a beautiful extended house, set in the western folds of the mid Welsh coastal area at Pentre Bach, Talybont. From the rear of the cottage there are extensive views of the Dyfi Estuary with Ynylas to the south and the southern hills of Snowdonia National Park behind Aber dyfi to the north. The position is perfect for numerous attractions including the far reaching sandy beaches, Aberystwyth town and many hills, mountains and reservoirs. Also there are a number of centres to visit within an easy drive such as The Centre for Alternative Technology, various open mines, craft centres, mini steam railways, Kite feeding and hill walks at Nant-Yr-Arian, Ynys-hir RSPB Nature Reserve and Osprey Centre, waterfalls such as Devil's Bridge and Hafod, etc. The cottage is quite well equipped but on our visit the BBQ had no gas and the dishwasher was clogged up and not getting things clean. There was a little more dust and cobwebs than we would have liked but otherwise everything was in good order. It must be said however, that Primrose Cottage is a most delightful old house with a vast array of really interesting features and furniture with a beautiful rear garden and a scenic first floor patio. Our family group had a fantastic time there and would not hesitate to revisit for a similar holiday in the future.

if you want a perfect holiday in a peaceful location then primrose cottage is the place. The cottage has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, all of which were spotless and well laid out. the kitchen diner was large and has everything that you could possibly need, including a washing machine and dishwasher. the lounge was lovely with a log burner that created a warm cosy atmosphere. Located close to Aberystwyth this was the perfect location to get to our sons graduation ceremony. We went on a dolphin spotting trip at New Quay which was around 45 minutes away. Lots in the local area to do, or just sit in the garden and take in the wildlife. we saw red kites, jays and lots more including a humming bird moth.
