Very well-located, quiet and spacious apartment. Super friendly hosts, lots of good tips regarding local restaurants, shops and bars. Very welcome airconditioning in both bedrooms as Rome can be hot in summer. All clean and well equipped. We had an amazing time in Rome! Most important attractions are on walking distance but anyway the apartment is located super close located to metro and train station. Would definitely recommend!

Setting correct expectations
I booked this apartment because of it's 5-star rating. Well, that is not accurate and we had some surprises. At least from an American lifestyle perspective and balancing the review from Chiara's perspective, our family gives it a 3-star rating. We still had a good time and prepared meals in the apartment, it was just not up to the standard of a 5-star rating.
Here's a run down of the pluses & minuses:
Good - central location in walking distance near common sights, train station (Termini) & Metro (subway); large size 2nd floor apartment, quite for being in the city; very clean; full kitchen; washing machine (clothes line dry - no dryer, but that is common in Italy); 2 toilets; hard-to-find-in-Italy full grocery store (Italian standards) just 2 blocks away. The apartment is initially hard to find, but Chiara met us at the door for check-in and introduction (Google maps is a lifesaver even when walking).
Not so good - AC in 2 bedrooms only (in Summer, this is a bit of an issue, but then again, AC is not common in Italy!) and renters will be asked to turn off the AC when away for the day. Power limitations - can't run more than 1 major appliance at a time or else it will flip the breaker: (a] stove - no more than 2 burners, b] oven, c] microwave, d] dishwasher, e] or washer) - we worked around this without too much of an issue. Showers - hot/cold water issues (primarily very challenging to avoid all cold or all hot water (this was not caused by other faucet or toilet uses). No blankets (just a cover sheet on each bed) but it worked out OK when leaving the bedroom setting at 19 degrees Celsius and leaving bedroom doors open. Wash room toilet flushing is only good for #1.
FYIs: Trash is very restrictive - 5 types of it! - but that is a city thing. Trash must be taken out before check-out (location is 1/2 block left, across the street on the corner near the park). Even with a limited-use elevator, there were still several sets of stairs (elevators are not common in Italy). Lots of graffiti, but it was actually quite safe - lots of individuals walking around in late evening without any concern. Chiara will want the Euros cash cleaning fee up front before checking in. Parking, if you drive (not recommended), is a challenge as it is anywhere in Rome or Italy.

Dear Kim, thank you for your feedback. Let me clarify a couple of things that you wrote.
The Tripadvisor/Holiday Lettings listing specify everything: that the air conditioning is in the bedrooms only (while in the living room there is a wonderful ceiling fan), and that there are 18 steps (up and down) to reach the elevator from the street level, etc.
I am sorry you’ve had issues with the power limitations and with the hot water, don’t understand why you didn’t contact me via Whatsapp or email DURING your stay, I would have found a solution to make your stay better.
As for the cleaning and city tax fee, the fact that the payment is in Euro cash upon arrival is specified everywhere in the listing and I also wrote it to you in the emails before your arrival, so definitely not a surprise.
Glad to read that you’ve enjoyed the size of the apartment, its cleanliness and facilities and the amazing location, just great to reach most of the main tourist attractions.

Great apartment with perfect access to transportation
Our family of four stayed for 5 nights - loved the location. My husband has a bad back, so we needed to minimize walking (still walked 3 - 6 miles every day). The metro access could not have been more convenient, a taxi stand was two blocks away at the Piazza Santa Maria Maggoria, and three blocks from Termini for our train ride leaving the city - easy access, but far enough away that the neighborhood was nice, quiet, and comfortable to stay in with our teenage kids.
The apartment was very spacious and well equipped, though an unusual layout. The living room at the very front was separated from the rest of the apartment, but that made it very quiet. The central courtyard that the rest of the apartment overlooked was our favorite part - a beautiful window into every day life in Rome. The kitchen was great, we put it to use every morning to make breakfast. The shower was a little awkward to stand in / use and hard to get the temperature just right, but that was our only criticism.
Easy access to shops for groceries, several great restaurants just steps away. And Chiara was really wonderful to work with. Very responsive throughout the booking process, met us at the apartment and was so helpful explaining everything. We loved our time here in Rome!

Great apartment in the center of Rome
This apartment is just perfect - spacious, clean, air-conditioned. Location is amazing - close to Termini (but located in the nice area of Monti, not the sketchy streets near Termini), walking distance to Colosseum, literally 2 steps away from the metro station. And being in the center it is super quiet. I can't say enough good words about the owner Chiara - our suitcases were delayed and she went above and beyond - calling the airport, leaving her mobile number with them, constantly checking with them and updating us.
I highly recommend this apartment - it had absolutely everything you could wish for and more.

Elizabeth House
Elizabeth House is perfectly situated for sightseeing in Rome. Walk out the door and you can see the Metro sign. It's only a 5/6 minute walk to the railway station and lots of tour buses stop at the top of the road as the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is there.
The apartment itself is large, spacious and comfy. The kitchen was well stocked with pans, crockery etc and for a city apartment I must say it was quite quiet at night as the bedrooms are cleverly at the rear away from the street.
The apartment is looked after by the wonderful Chiara who does everything she can to help inexperienced visitors to Rome. A million thanks to her for all she did for us.

Ottimo appartamento
Abbiamo soggiornato nell'appartamento in 4 e direi che è abbastanza accogliente...molto ampio, ben organizzato e sopratutto pulitissimo !!!
In un quartiere ben servito, la metro praticamente a fianco e sopratutto al centro con facilità di raggiungere il Colosseo e tutto il centro storico a piedi.
Lo consiglio veramente a tutti. Grazie !!!!

We enjoyed the apartment but the best thing was the helpfulness of Chiara.
Elizabeth House is in a lively, interesting area of Rome - not too touristy. There are many small shops, various restaurants and bakeries and historic churches. Right beside the entrance to the apartments is a trattoria with good food, reasonably priced, and helpful staff, which suited us so well that we went back several times. A few streets away is an amazing covered Food Market. The location is convenient for the Metro and the Termini and to set off on foot to explore historic areas such as the Colosseum.
The apartment is in a traditional Italian building with high ceilings and cool tiled floors, has a well equipped kitchen and is tastefully furnished with interesting art on the walls. The beds were comfortable and nicely made up for our family.
The most impressive aspect was Chiara's helpfulness, particularly in sorting out a payment problem (not of her making). She went beyond duty. Once we had arrived she meet us at the apartment for checkin, which was all done well plus helpful information about the apartment, the locality and generally what we wanted to do in Rome. She also provided a local cell phone for any other questions during our stay. The taxi from the airport was reliably booked with helpful instructions about what to do if the plane was delayed.

Spacious well equipped apartment
Location was ideal with most of major attractions within walking distance,but if we needed to go a little further the Metro was just outside the door.Chiara arranged a taxi transfer to and from the airport which was ideal and was very informative when we met.

Encantador
Hemos estado en el apartamento dos parejas y dos niños. Nos ha resultado comodísimo, ya que las habitaciones son muy amplias y también la cocina-comedor. Es muy luminoso, a pesar de que las habitaciones dan a un patio interior, pero es muy grande y con plantas. Nos ha encantado la decoración, sencilla pero con mucho gusto. Y por supuesto, tiene todo lo necesario para sentirse bien, para cocinar, para descansar... Y la ubicación, pensábamos que estaba un poco alejado y teníamos dudas acerca del barrio, pero nos ha sorprendido porque hemos podido ir a pié a muchos sitios y también hemos usado el metro que está al lado de la casa. En cuanto al barrio, es muy agradable, la calle ancha y arbolada, la plaza con jardín justo al lado, y en general, un barrio muy vivo, en el que hay tiendas de todo tipo.
Y, tengo que agradecer a Chiara su atención en todo momento.

Real Rome
Located on the edge of Monti & Esqulino the apartment is in a great location to explore Rome, particularly if you want to be out of the real touristy areas. The apartment is large, spacious, clean, & well appointed. The beds very comfortable & as the bedrooms face out to the inner courtyard we slept well every night. Chiara greeted us and was so lovely and helpful ( by now you must have had your baby, we hope you are very happy & all is well). The surrounding area is italian street life with one of Monti's best eateries, Trattoria Monti, opposite the apartment. We highly recommend Elizabeth House.
