We spent 1 week ( not long enough) at Villa Capanne. The setting is extraordinary, the most idyllic location with panoramic views over the valley. The setting changes during the course of the day, starting with low clouds over the valley in the early mornings, through to golden light over the hills in the afternoon. The villa is warm, inviting and very comfortable. The large bedrooms, all with own bathrooms, have views over the valley and the villa grounds. There are plenty of options to keep everyone interested: the pool, walks/hikes through the grounds, vineyard visits ( with wine tasting), truffle hunting, visits to little hilltop towns, amazing churches and cathedrals, restaurant's with views over the valley and lovely quaint local piazza's. My group have booked to go back in 2024 as we, as artists found so much inspiration. David and Chrissie are the ultimate hosts. Many thanks must go to Donata, Alessandra, Roberto and Maurizio our driver for the week. Travel and Paint will be back and are looking forward to renewing friendships made. This is a truly enchanting part of the world.

wonderful views, relaxed stylish living spaces, well equipped kitchen and a beautiful garden with lots of gorgeous outdoor spaces for eating etc and great walks from the door. Lots of cots/highchairs and toys, books... and the lovely feeling of family history. Plenty of space and privacy for our 10 adults and 2 little ones. Really helpful staff - thank you Chrissie, Donata and David.

Spent a fabulous week at Villa Capanne. Idyllic and panoramic views of the valley that changes throughout the day and is a great place to unwind and re-connect with friends, family and self. The whole setup of the villa was very well done up. It was cosy with plenty of space to cater to large groups and quiet corners to spend with a book. Amenities in the villa was top notch. There is enough around the area to keep everyone occupied - vineyard visits, truffle gathering, hiking, cycling, exploring quaint the towns of Perugia, Assisi and more. Dining options was more than adequate. For the golfers, a round on the Antognolla GC is a must. I played 2 rounds on this Robert Trent Jr designed course during the stay and it was a challenging and rewarding workout. We will definitely come back for another visit.

What a view! A secluded idyll in the Italian countryside. A charming home with all you could wish for. The surrounding countryside and towns offer markets and good restaurants. The Golf Course is challenging and beautiful with incredibly friendly helpful staff. We had a couple of gorgeous days poolside by the villa. It was a truly lovely holiday and we would love to go back one day. David is the ultimate host and helped us enormously.

We have had a fantastic 2 weeks in Villa Capanne and could not recommend it more highly . David and Chrissie were superb in their approach to arranging the booking and lots of suggestions of what we could do . We had friends and family joining us over the time and we loved the amazing pool , the stunning views , gardens , golf course and the local food and wine added to the true Italian experience . Highly recommend the wine tasting and lunch at the local vineyard . We had yoga at the Villa on 2 days . Wonderful towns and villages to visit . It’s a very special place .

What an incredible experience we had at Villa Capanne! The setting in Umbria is breathtaking, and close to so many different places for day trips. The a itself comes so well equipped with everything three families (including children!) needed for a weeks stay. The attention to detail to make sure we had everything we needed was great - the pre stocking of the kitchen with welcome drinks and the basic supplies was so helpful. David and Chrissie take such great pride in taking care of guests - responding to our questions and helping with everything we needed — including booking private cooking classes, restaurant reservations and then checking in to make sure everything was ok! The villa “guide” was so extensive, it gave us so many ideas of what to do. Our only regret is that we were only at Villa Capanne for a week. Between the hours in the glorious pool, eating lingering meals outside in the gorgeous setting and exploring nearby villages, and delicious wine tastings, we truly had a relaxing Umbria experience. Thank you David and Chrissie for introducing us to Umbria and Villa Capanne !

Villa Capanne is a truly wonderful place with beautiful views from the infinity pool, which immediately made us relax and transported us into that holiday headspace. We enjoyed the chance to experience the outdoor living , connecting with nature and the culture, food and wine provenance and the origins of Umbrian life. The gardens and location are truly exceptional . A family celebration with friends was the purpose of our holiday, the younger members enjoyed the freedom of the separate elegant cottage, Capannetta, in the grounds. The villa terrace was perfect for outdoor dining and Assisi, Perugia, Spello and Gubbio were just some of the enchanting places we visited - close enough to return to the villa in time to catch the rays of the afternoon and evening sun by the pool. The villa, pool and garden were so enticing that often we enjoyed the day simply relaxing - playing croquet, sunbathing and reading by the pool. We were able to plan activities, restaurants and visits in advance for our party with the great recommendations and friendly, helpful and professional support of Chrissie and David who manage the villa and know everything worth knowing about the area. They also arranged cooking and cleaning at the villa as required including the preparation and serving of an amazing dinner for us on the pool terrace for our family celebration. Activities include the picturesque and challenging Antognolla golf course, walking, eating in the lovely local restaurants and the memorable tasting of the award winning wines at the Chiesa del Carmine winery, tutored by sommelier Mattia, served with a delicious lunch of local fayre including the truffles from our mornings foraging with Massimo and his dog.

Villa Capanne is a beautifully positioned farmhouse with astounding views set in the Umbrian hills. It is understated, with a real attention to detail. Equally it is fitted out with all the facilities you could possibly need. We had both wet weather and hot and sunny weather and in both instances Villa Capanne was ideal: blazing log fires one day and barbecues and swimming the next. There are plenty of things to do, if you can draw yourself away, the most obvious of which is golf - though the golf gene passed most of our party by. Those who did play all reckoned it was the best course they had ever played. Nearly are pleney of fabulous restaurants at lots of price points; outstanding art and architecture - the Madonna del Parto is worth a journey alone; and beautiful country to explore. We went on the truffle hunt and light lunch based at Chiesa del Carmine winery and loved it from start to finish. Massimo and Mattia were great guides. David looked after us perfectly - never intrusive, but always available and helpful. Our every need was met and he was a delight. The garden was perhaps the highlight of the villa, colourful and beautifully designed, it seemed at its best whilst we were there - and I bet all the guests say the same!

Our multigenerational family just stayed at Villa Capanne and had they most wonderful vacation. The property, houses and gardens are simply wonderful. Waking up to the view of the castle was breath taking. It is ideally located to explore this picturesque area. A trip to Vineria Del Chisamine is a must! However, what made our stay all the more enjoyable was the attention to detail provided by the amazing hosts, David and Chrissie. They were super helpful throughout our stay but more importantly, leading up to it given the uncertainty surrounding COVID restrictions. The information provided in the extremely comprehensive brochure was spot on and lead us to many wonderful sights and restaurants. Can’t wait to return!! Simply amazing…..

There are a lot of things about our stay at Villa Capanne that we enjoyed. Nestled in the beautiful countryside, the villa is equipped with everything you need for a wonderful and relaxing stay. Highlights included cooking outside on the bbq, using fresh herbs and fruit from the property grounds, renting bikes from Giovanni (who even dropped them off for us), and visiting the local vineyard, Vineria del carmine. Mostly though, the stay wouldn't have been so good without the incredible hospitality from David and Chrissie, who made sure our stay was absolutely seamless. With so many other places to visit in the world, it's not often I want to return to the same place but two days just wasn't enough - we'll be back soon.
