When looking at the apartment, we couldn't find a great deal of recent information in reviews so hopefully this will help others to know a bit more. We are frequent visitors to Albufeira and always stay in the old town. We have stayed at Bay View on a couple of occasions in other apartments.
The apartments themselves are located in the old town, within seconds of the local bus stops, taxi rank, land train to the marina and a mini market as well as a couple of bars, restaurants, and cafe. Just a couple of minutes further and you'll drop down into the old town, where you'll be spoilt for choice with restaurants, bars, night clubs etc. And access to the beaches. Worth bearing in mind that when returning to most accommodation after an evening in the old town, you will be walking up hill!
Bay View 403 is a one bed apartment in a secure block of well maintained apartments, which have a shared pool and sun terrace, roof terrace and reception area (not manned).
The access instructions were sent by Gail as promised 48hrs ahead of arrival and were easy to follow. Communication with Gail has been excellent throughout.
The apartment itself also contains some further information.
The lifts were never busy so coming and going was easy. The neighbours were quiet and other rental guests respectful of the 11pm quiet request (people live here and have to get up for work!)
The apartment itself was clean and tidy with a bathroom containing a jet shower and large modern sink. The kitchen/lounge area is spacious and the floor tiles help to keep it cool. There is air conditioning which although we only used once, seems to work efficiently.
The kitchen has a fridge with small freezer box, a cooker hob with full oven, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery, cups etc for 2 people. There is no microwave or washing machine, but we weren't expecting them as they weren't advertised. There is an iron, ironing board, clothes rack, hairdryer and beach parasol and mats as extras which you may find useful. Linen, towels and beach towels are provided.
There is a dining table for 4, L shaped comfortable leather sofa, TV and music system. The music system can be connected to your devices for access to playlists. The TV only has one English speaking channel, which is Sky news- fine for us as we were not in the apartment much and not on holiday to watch TV. WIFI is available in the apartment and is fast with a good signal.
The bedroom has a double bed which is quite comfortable and storage by way of a small wardrobe, large chest of drawers and bedside units. There is a window that opens fully and great to let air into the bedroom.
The apartment has a private balcony with table and chairs for 2 and overlooks the church and Merlins
Bar, with a nice view of the bay in between.
The apartment is quiet at night when the balcony doors are shut but Merlins is open until very late (or early) and the music can be easily heard when windows/doors are open. We often pop in for a nightcap or two on the way home, it's a great little bar.
The only other thing to note is that starting at 8am the church bell rings out on the hour and every half hour (not through the night) this was not popular with my husband but I found it the perfect alarm clock!
If you are looking for a base in the old town with the freedom of a self catering apartment, in a secure location then Bay View is a great choice.
Thank you Gail for hosting, great apartment in one of our favourite places in this corner of the world!
