This unit is actually 2 and there is no division between the two units. Other occupants can see you and belongings.
I arrived at this property and found it was a 4 floor home. I was traveling with a friend and we were very happy with the place when we first arrived. We thought it was nice and large. During our stay some things started to make the place less appealing. The first floor is a bar that stays open until 2 am. The base music was loud and customers who were smoking were seated below the windows to this place. I found the loud music and cigarette smoke wafting inside difficult to deal with.
We left after our stay and I was immediately contacted via WhatsApp by Christina saying that there was an additional 12 euros due for tax. I told her we had already left but I would be happy to pay via Venmo or Zelle. She had neither and suggested Paypal. I agreed and boarded my flight to Azores. When I landed she had texted me again telling me I needed to call her. I called right away and she said that this unit is actually 2 units. There were no doors or division between the units. I told her I had no idea. I told her I did not understand that there were two units and I would not have been accepting if the 2nd floor had other people with no division between our units. My traveling partner had slept in the 3rd bed trying to escape the smoke from the cocktail bar. She requested I pay for a cleaner to change the linens on the 3rd bed for a client who checked in right after us. I agreed.
The next day Christina contacted me again. She said that the fee for changing the sheets was 60 euros. I thought this was quite steep. She gave me her Paypal address. I tried to set up Paypal but because I was traveling in another country on a SIM card, I could not access my normal financial resources. She could not understand what I was trying to explain and said she would check with her son.
The next day another text from Christina. She wanted more money. The amount climbed another 8 euros for her daughter taking a bus to change the sheets. I thought this was a bit much since the bus did not cost this much.
At this point Christina had texted me asking for an increasing amount of money each day. My entire trip to Azores seemed to be filled with daily texts asking for money. I could not wait to get home so I could send this lady her money and quit hearing from her. I got home, sent up a paypal, and sent her money. You would think that was it, but again she contacted me saying she had no Paypal (or could not retrieve the money I had put in there for her) and she needed an additional 14 euros so she could set up a Paypal account.
At this point I confronted her and said I felt like this was some sort of a scam against me. I told her I sent her money to exactly the Paypal she told me and it was up to her to contact Paypal. I told her I felt harassed and I wanted her to stop calling me daily.
She then contacted Tripadvisor and told them I had damaged her apartment and she wanted money.

Older apartment on the Douro River
Pros: pretty view, charming if quirky decor, excellent communication with Cristina who took time to call us and make recommendations of what to do and eat in the city. She offered to arrange trips and outings if I wanted this, though we had already done this. Easy access via keypad code. The apartment was clean but the bathrooms definitely smelled moldy/mildewy. There is a microwave. Water pressure in showers was great and plenty of hot water.
Cons: Unfortunately I had failed to notice in the advertisement that there was no air conditioning in the apartment and it was very warm during our stay, so sleeping at night was difficult. This was my oversight and not the owner’s fault. Other downsides for two senior travelers were all the stairs to the unit and a very low platform bed in the master suite that was truly difficult to get in and out of for this 69 year old with arthritic knees. The bathrooms are pretty outdated with zero counter space and poor lighting. The bathrooms had a strong sewer odor and smelled mildewed. We are usually up before 8:00 a.m. but just an FYI—there is a church directly behind the apartment and bells do start ringing at 8:00 a.m. They then ring throughout the day on the hour and half hour. They do not ring at night though! But if you’re someone who wants to sleep in or take an afternoon siesta after sightseeing all day, this might be an issue.

Nice apartment, easy access to Porto
Nice apartment within walking distance to many restaurants, a supermarket, and to Porto itself. Cristina is very attentive and helpful! The only negative is the 2 long flights of stairs to the main level, then a third flight to the upper bedroom. But good exercise 😊

Beautiful apartment in a fab location
We stayed in this beautiful apartment for 5 days and enjoyed it immensely!
Very comfortable accommodation near local restaurants which were well priced and excellent food.
There is a large modern supermarket nearby which is fantastic! The position is also great to walk along the river and close enough to get into town.
Christina our host and owner couldn’t do enough for us, messaged us with places to see and we used her airport transfer which was brilliant! Couldn’t fault anything and would recommend to anyone staying in Porto!

FABULOUS FABULOUS FABULOUS
Thank you Christina for your FABULOUS WELCOME.
The apartment is a JEWEL. Your attention to detail made us feel so wonderfully accomodated. The mattress bedding and divine bath towels were FABULOUS. The living areas spacious and elegant.
The kitchen a state of modern art; generous supplies in cupboards.
The view from our bacloney was FABULOUS.
The location was an easy walk to the centre yet faraway from the tourist crowds and touristic restaurants. Convinient access to local transport; beach and seafood restaurants a 20 minute bus ride away.
BEST GUEST HOUSE WE HAVE STAYED thanks to your exceptionally enthusiastic and informative welcome and attention to detail. Thank you also for offering to pick us up and take us safely back to the airport. We look forward to returning.

Wonderful stay
Would echo what all the other reviews say - excellent apartment, well equipped and well situated for exploring Porto. Cristina collected us from the airport and was extremely welcoming and informative, giving us a tour of Porto before delivering us to the apartment. She gave us lots of ideas about what to do during our stay, including recommendations for eating places. Cristina also took us back to the airport when it was time for us to return home. There is a bus route running past the apartment which takes you into Porto, but also to the coast. Local supermarket just 5 minutes away which is very useful, and eating places available all along the riverfront. In spite of that, there is little noise and it is a quiet neighbourhood. We would certainly consider a return visit sometime.

The perfect spot from which to enjoy Porto!
Our family of two adults and two children (12 & 13) stayed in this wonderful apartment for 5 days. The space is bright, clean and comfortable. The location is not only lovely, with it’s river view, it is incredibly convenient to all that Porto has to offer. Although it is very close to great public transportation, we were able to walk most everywhere from the apartment. The chiming bells from the nearby blue and white tiled church, were charming. The restaurant downstairs is a terrific neighborhood place with delicious food and a friendly staff.
I can’t say enough good things about Cristina, the owner. Her thoughtful touches and warm welcome really contributed to our enjoyment of this lovely city. Cristina was kind, flexible and helpful in all things.
You are in for a treat!

Absolutely marvellous!
The hostess, Christina, is the epitome of looking after guests. She greeted us and looked after our every detail. If you had a Christina at every guest door, the world would be much more fun to travel. The location was great. Nice apartment. Kitchen had everything one could imagine for a great stay. BUT most of all is her attention to her guests! We cannot wait to go back!

Ignore the little climb up two flights of stairs--this is a great property
Cristina is the most attentive hostess and she has poured her personality into this truly unique property set overlooking the Douro river near to the heart of Porto--our favourite Portugese city.
We had a great 5 days in this very comfortable apartment.

This apartment is outstanding and our host was wonderful. The apartment is beautifully decorated and had everything you could think of including fast Wi-Fi, coffeemaker, nice quality towels, shampoo and more. The location is perfect, right across the street from the Douro River, and public transportation is easily accessible. It’s within walking distance to many historical and notable sites. Just make note of the stairs up to the apartment, two sets of 18. However, it’s also a plus because of all the fabulous port and food you’ll be experiencing, you can work it off by climbing the stairs.
