Central to all Deeside attractions. Lots of walks close by. Renovated part of the house very warm and comfortable. Downside was that not so great for kids or dogs due to being on main road. Also stairs to bedrooms bit tricky for less mobile people.

Just perfect
The cottage was just a perfect location. The view from the bifold doors was stunning. Could have sat there all day. We are ready to move in permanently as the cottage has everything we would need. We truly loved our weeks holiday.

Wow! Stunning Area
Well, where do i start. This cottage is situated in one of the most beautiful places i have ever been, the views are amazing just from the front window as well as out in the back garden. Beautiful walks on your doorstep literally from your back garden in to Ballater which you must visit as it is an extremley pretty little place with lovely little shops and restaurants. We did so much in our one week stay, Newburgh beach to see the seals, Foyers falls and on to Loch Ness, Cordonas Amusements and Aberdeen for some shopping, Highland Wildlife Park and also Paddleboarding at one of the beaches nearby, we also did the Cambus O May walks and made sure we walked across one of the many white suspension bridges despite our dogs protest where they had to be carried over because they were too scared!. This is a great area to stay and a lovely, comfortable cottage with loads of space as well as a lovely back garden for our dogs to run around in. Great communication with Gavin the owner, no problems finding it or getting in to the cottage. A real breathtaking view on the drive up to Ballater, a rollercoaster of a road but the sights, views are amazing.We would hope to return one day as this was one of our best, most relaxing holidays we have ever had.

Perfect balance of homely and practical
After 2 reschedules due to covid thanks to Gavins flexibility we finally spent a week here in May. The cottage is both cosy and practical, I sat by the big window every day looking out at the hills of Ballater. Quiet but within walking distance down the track to Ballater it's in a perfect spot. The garage was especially handy for our bikes. Lots of space in and around, everything we needed for a fantastic holiday. I'd highly recommend The Clachan Grill for dinner, the general store at Aboyne for whisky and the cheese shop at Cambos O May. The mountain biking and walking here is superb, we'll be back.

Lovely Cottage
Aberdeen Cottage is in a very good position surrounded by fields on the outskirts of Ballater. Ballater is an easy walk taking about 20 minutes along the Deeside Way which is at the back of the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and the facilities are excellent.

beautiful cottage in a great location
Located on the edge of Ballater, a beautiful little town with great amenities. Easy to visit Glenshee and the Lecht for skiing which was the purpose of our visit. We also enjoyed visiting Braemar which is close by. We would definitely visit again.

Pet friendly cosy cottage in stunning Royal Deeside.
Great location on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Easy drive to the Lecht and Glenshee ski areas. Ballater, Braemar and Balmoral on your doorstep. There is direct access to the Deeside Way from the path at the back of the cottage; fantastic for walking the dog or your daily run! We had a stunning night time walk back from the village (Ballater), with the pathway lit up by the 'Super Blue' Moon. Very special!

Lovely Cottage, Unfortunate Mouse Infestation
Arrived the day before New Years Eve, noticed mouse droppings straight away. Reported immediately to the owner, Gavin, who couldn't see a problem "part of living in the countryside". He advised us to locate a mouse trap which had been previously set and put some chocolate in it.
The mice had been in the kitchen cupboards, under the microwave, around the cooker top. Droppings were in the new extension, entrance porch, the hallway, 2nd sitting room, up the stairs & main bedroom. We had to put all the contents of the kitchen cupboards through the dishwasher before we could use them & disinfect the worktops etc.
I sent three e-mails to Gavin between 30th Dec and 1st Jan - still awaiting a reply!
Tripadvisor were amazing once we reported the problem to them, being new year they were unable to move us, but they worked very hard and Gavin eventually sent someone around with some mouse traps on 3rd Jan. We caught our first mouse on 5th Jan in the under sink cupboard.
Frankly not good enough that the cottage was let to us with a known mouse infestation. This is a problem for a professional pest control company. On the bright side we did get half our money back.
Such a shame as otherwise its a fantastic cottage, we are regular visitors to the area and would have loved to return.

I wasn't going to respond to this exaggerated and partly untrue review but have decided I should. Only to say that ( whilst accepting there was a mouse ) it could hardly be called an "infestation". It is interesting that the guests who arrived during the morning of this guest's arrival made no mention of any such problem nor have the subsequent guests (please see their reviews). I am relieved to read that this guest will not be returning.
