Fabulous hosts, house and location. You couldn’t ask for more. A beautiful rural escape on the Kerry Way allowing for hours of quiet walking over the Kerry mountains. A private trek down the mountain from the house leads directly to a pebble beach where I watched a solitary seal bobbing around in the sea watching me watching him! A break that will reboot even the flattest of souls!

We stayed for one week and we can honestly say this beautiful house is a perfect home from home. We received the warmest welcome from Laura's parents who very thoughtfully left scones, pizza and milk. This was greatly appreciated after our long journey. Everything you could possibly need is in the house. There are a good range of maps and information leaflets to help you explore the area. The house is well maintained, spotlessly clean and so comfortable. We had our two girls with us,10 and 8 years, they loved sharing a room. The bedrooms have plenty of storage space and very comfy beds. The bathrooms are clean with a good supply of towels and even face clothes. We were able to explore all round the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. Such beautiful scenery, it is truly a breathe taking part of the world. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Knockatinna you will have a fabulous holiday. Thank you Laura and family for making our stay so lovely.

We stayed for 10 days in July - had an amazing vacation. Just my husband and I - we rented a car and used the house a home base to explore far and wide. Also took some great walks just out the front door of the house. It was beautiful and the house was perfect. Would love to go back again!!!

Our family used Knockatinna as a base for exploring Kerry over the course of several days. It was perfect. The home is lovely and well maintained. It gave us a place to prepare our own meals and stretch out each evening. The rooms (one with a large bed and the other with two twins) had plenty of space to unpack and the beds were comfy. The kitchen/dining space was huge and well equipped. Two bathrooms were a bonus with teenagers amongst us. Most importantly the family room provided plenty of space to spread out each night for reading (the owner has an extensive library) and games. For us, it was just about a perfect location to explore Kerry, including Portmagee, Skellig Michael, Rossbeigh Beach/Strand, Glenbeigh, and Killarney National Park. However, make sure you leave time to unwind at the house. The views from the home of the Kerry mountains are spectacular. There is a bench outside to settle and enjoy it all. Many hikes can also be taken from the house, although sadly we didn't plan enough time at Knockatinna. We recommend the accommodation without reservation, but any guest, should know they are staying in the countryside. It is lovely, but you won't be walking to a pub for dinner. Also, you will be driving down some narrow, Irish one-lane roads.

Very comfortable, well equipped family house in quiet location but near lovely local beaches, great walking country, Kerry Ring and tourist attractions. Made to feel very welcome by owner's parents John and Kathleen. Glenbeigh with local shops, eateries 3 miles away. Lovely area and great place to be based to explore.

We were welcomed by Laura's parents at our arrival at the cottage. It felt good immediately. A quick tour of the property and a hospitality treat of Kateleen's perfect Irish Coffee followed days later. The house was very comfortable. We had a great spring holiday at Knockatinna with our two kids 10 and 8 years old. The house is a two-hour drive away from Cork airport, and is beautifully and quietly located in the hills just west of Glenbeigh, close to Dingle bay and Rossbeigh beach. We were heartily welcomed by the very friendly parents of the owner, who live a few hundreds of meters further up the road. The house is very well equipped, containing all the necessary equipment and basic ingredients for home cooking, lots of books and DVDs, and extensive documentation for planning day-trips. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace, which provided a cosy atmosphere during the chilly evenings even though the weather was quite good during the whole week. From the house there is 15-minute descent towards a cobblestone beach. We used the house as a basis for several activities, including hiking in the surroundings and near Killarney, and day trips to Valencia Island and Dingle. The Irish coastline here is stunningly beautiful, with its green hills, its cliffs and the several small islands. We can highly recommend this house if you intend to explore the Kerry countryside!

We really enjoyed our stay at Knockatinna and this was enhanced by good weather (which always helps). The cottage was one of the best we have stayed at - clean, very well equipped and set in beautiful and quiet surroundings. It was a great location to explore the Ring of Kerry and especially the fantastic beaches. Plenty of places to visit and walks nearby. The owner's parents live just half a mile from the cottage and we were kindly invited to visit one evening (partaking in Kathleen's legendary 'Irish Coffees' which was worth the trip alone!). We would certainly recommend this cottage to family and friends.

I stayed in Knockatinna with a friend and our children. It is a beautiful, spacious house, and is also extremely well equipped. We loved the stream in the garden, and the horses in the neighbouring field. The house is in a wonderful, unspoilt location and is nearby the little village of Glenbeigh with its shops, restaurants and pubs. It's greast for children with a playground opposite the beach, and we were fortunate to be there in the middle of July when the circus on the beach was in town. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to prospective guests.

I miss Knockatinna already, having spent a lovely two weeks in its embrace! It's truly in the country, but only a five minute drive from a delightful village (Glenbeigh - with several wonderful pubs, including the Olde Glenbeigh, with origins dating back to the late 1700's). The house was truly outfitted for "self-catering", with all kitchen accoutrements on hand. Linens, towels, etc., were amply furnished. The house is well heated, but for chill evenings, two fireplaces add to the charm of the place. From Knockatinna we toured the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Penninsula (greeting Fungie, the friendly Dolphin in Dingle Bay), Blarney Castle, Cashel of the Kings and Cork City as well as Bunratty, Durty Nellie's and the unbelievable Cliffs of Moher. We enjoyed spectacular beaches, the Bog Museum, classic Irish farms and pastures, pristine lakes, and of course, embracing Irish hospitality served up by John and Kathleen O'Shea and their fabulous daughter, Laura. All made for a wondrous holiday which we would love to repeat as soon as possible.
