We had a week here at the beginning of August. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and approachable, and our children loved the dogs and cats that live here. It’s a great base to visit Kent from as it’s about an hour or less to any of the coastal resorts. The cottage setting is tranquil, and we spent happy hours reading and sketching and relaxing in the hot tub. The garden attached to Oak Cottage is a lovely size for softball or badminton, or just to sit and read. The cottage itself had everything we needed. Loads of space, a really comfy sofa, lovely breakfast table, and we ate outside at the table by the BBQ most nights. Good shower, washing machine works perfectly, cooking facilities are great if you want to cook, although there are plenty of options to eat out. We’d definitely go back.

We stayed here for a week and it was the best week of my life as my fiancé proposed to me in the gardens of this beautiful cottage. It’s the best place for a peaceful stay, and the hosts were amazing in letting us know about all the facilities and attractions nearby from shopping in the designer outlet to dining in the nearby village. It’s very private and boasts a private lake and hot tub and is surrounded by idyllic farmland. I would definitely recommend visiting the cottage.

Das Haus liegt etwas abseits und sehr ruhig. Es ist groß und sehr sauber. Der Garten ist großartig. Unsere Gastgeber waren unglaublich zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Wir haben extra ein Kindergitter für die Treppe bekommen damit unserem Kleinen nichts passieren konnte. Einkaufen in Ashford und ein Tagesausflug nach Leeds Castle und noch vieles mehr liegen in Reichweite. Etwa 15 Gehminuten entfernt ist ein großartiges Restaurant inclusive einem großen Spielplatz. Dazwischen liegt ein toller Farmshop in dem man fast alles bekommt. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und werden sehr gerne wiederkommen.

Me and a very good friend spent a week in Kent in Nov 17. We were arriving late because my flight was late and we had trouble getting away from the airport. Upon arrival, the cottage was nice, clean and warm and the bed sheets smelled like they had just come out of the dryer - perfect! My friend had done some shopping for us, but the cottage was equipped with reasonable amounts of e.g. toilet paper and salt and pepper and for example dish soap. Nigel and Wendy also offer to do the shopping for you prior to your arrival if you can't make it yourself. There is a selection of books and DVDs to choose from. There is a heating for the towels (which are also provided) in the bathroom - quite comfortable for november mornings. The kitchen is equipped for normal cooking, there's a small fridge and two hobs as well as some pans and pots - don't expect to be able to cook a five course dinner though. Challock is a great starting point for exploring Kent, it never took us more than 1,5 hrs by car to go sightseeing somewhere. Among others, we visited Canterbury, Maidstone, Leeds Castle and Dover. Nigel and Wendy are very attentive hosts and live just next doors in case one needs anything.

La casa es muy acogedora aunque algo antigua esta muy bien acondicionada y el entorno es magnifico con vistas muy buenas y paisajes cambiante de norte a sur y de este a oeste. Los dueños son amables y apenas te molestan y la equipación es completa.Como area de mejora pondríamos algún elemento que no funicona correctamente como alguna luz o la propia calefacción que hacia ruido de los conductos a determinadas horas y que no apaguen la calefacción toda la noche

We are just back from a fantastic 5 night break at oak cottage. We sent several emails to Nigel prior to our stay which he responded to quickly with all the information we needed. He kindly allowed us to check in early as they had no guests the day before which helped us out with our journey times, working around our small children's nap times. The cottage itself was perfect. Our 4 year old daughter enjoyed walking around the garden searching for fairies and insisted on a swim in the lake, which daddy agreed to. There was a small slide and swing which our toddler played on and the hot tub for me in the evening. Everything we wanted to see was 20-50mins drive away...leeds castle, canterbury, several beaches.. A top tip would sbe to visit Leeds castle early on in your stay. We bought our tickets on our first afternoon which meant we visited twice more when we had a few hours to spare and really got our monies worth from our ticket. I think we will definitely be back next year!

Beautiful gardens surround the cottage that is within steps of a small lake in which you may swim. It is very private as the property is gated and you feel like you are a million miles from any hustle and bustle one would find in town. There's lots to do with swimming, hiking and table tennis. Relax in the large living room equipped with tv and DVD along with a few good novels and internet. Lots of room for kiddies to run! Well within driving distance of a variety of small villages and a great place to begin your hunt for oast houses. Canterbury Cathedral, Leeds Castle and many more sights are within an hour from the cottage. WE thoroughly enjoyed our time in Challock.

The cottage was cosy and warm with good amenities. Very clean and quaint. However we did find the shower was a problem, it kept going cold and the water only trickled out, other than that everything was excellent.

Very cosy cottage with amazing views. We loved the rural setting and very convenient location for the variuos trips we undertook.

We recently stayed in Oak Cottage for a long weekend. The owners are very welcoming and provided comprehensive pre visit directions, help and guidance which made life much easier. The cottage is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room. The facilities were absolutely fine and we were able to cook. The location is ideal set in the Kent countryside with lovely views. It is a good starting point for touring Kent with easy access from Rye right round the coast to Whitstable and the Isle of Sheppey.
