People choose their holiday put their faith in the concise and optimistic reviews available online. Unfortunately, some of these testimonials fail to acknowledge potential issues for pets, such as unsecured or unsafe gardens, leading to a waste of valuable time, money, and emotional investment.
The holiday takes a downturn when customers discover that the hosts are unresponsive to their requests, such as full refunds.
We received the below response from the owner of Owl Barn, Sisland to our request for a full refund after cancelling with four months notice on realising the garden was unsuitable for our pet.
Please go for legal advice – you made a booking based on the terms and conditions and any legal advice would tell you to pay the 50% back.
I should have realised that something fishy was going on when you kept asking the agency to hold the booking for you.
I have absolutely no intention of sending any money to you and I do not wish to hear from you again – if I do – I will be the one taking legal action and getting the money I sent you back returned to me – we have had GSD’s stay before and they have been safe and secure – I would suggest that you are just making up a very good back story.
Yes I am upset and have had an awful time – but you are not taking advantage of me in this situation – everyone I have spoken to about this has come to the conclusion that either you have money troubles or have split up with your wife – I am not passing judgement – BUT I DO NOT EXPECT TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN.

Fantastic stay at Owl Barn Sisland
I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Owl Barn Sisland in Norfolk. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed the luxurious comfort, friendly welcome from the owners and the glorious rural surroundings. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and felt very safe in these uncertain times. Owl barn has been very thoughtfully organised and resourced and was a haven in these troubled times.

Just Perfect
We have stayed in Orchard Barn on a previous holiday but this was our first visit to Owl Barn and it certainly won't be our last! We can't think of anything that wasn't provided for us....Lesley and Jane, you have thought of absolutely everything!
The setting is so tranquil and the accomodation of the highest spec and spotlessly clean.
There is a lovely circular walk around the area and in the late evening you can get brilliant views of the sunset.
Norwich, the coast or the broads are not far away by car but we had some fabulous bike rides along the quiet country lanes.
We didn't have a meal or cream tea (definitely next time!) but I have no doubt both would have been perfect.

Loved our stay
Really loved our stay!
The barn was spotless and the photos don't do it justice on the size.
Perfectly located for the broads.
Places to visit:
Fairhaven Gardens to see the stunning water gardens with its own private broad.
Beccles for a riverside meal at The Waveney House House.
Wroxham for a good selection of boat rides on the broad!

Really does match up to the owner's description!
This is a great place to stay unless you really must be within walking distance of every amenity and nightlife. For the rest of us, this is a superbly appointed, and comfortable, holiday accommodation - with plenty of space for even our two Leonbergers. It is in a very quiet, rural location but is within easy travelling of Norwich (10 Miles) and the market town of Beccles (7miles). Loddon is only 3 minutes drive away (for shops and pubs) and a 10 minute drive to Brooke for the superb food at the Kings Head! The Norfolk coast and the Broads are further away - probably about 40 minutes - though the Suffolk coatal town of Southwold is closer than that.
We stayed for a week and never got frustrated through lack of space or amenities in Owl Barn and that has to indicate the quality of the place. Additionally, the owners are available for help or advice, but are not 'watching over you'.
It is very easy to recommend staying here!

Lovely setting
Ideal place for those who want to feel like they are away from it all but want good walks and food a short drive away. The owners were friendly but not in your face. The barn had everything you could need for your stay along with a comfy super-king size bed. We don't have dogs so it was nice to see no evidence of any dogs who had stayed there before - it was spotless. Shower was lovely and powerful! We loved sitting at the french doors,enjoying the views over the lawn and fields beyond - very relaxing! We would definitely stay here again if we were coming to Norfolk.

Owl Barn, Sisland near Loddon - first class accommodation for a couple
We have just returned from a week in Owl Barn, Sisland near Loddon and wanted to sing the praises of this lovely place. From the first contact, by e mail, everything was simply excellent. The barn has absolutely everything that you could possibly want and more! The extremely comfortable superking bed deserves a special mention. So many good self catering and B+B places, even those that are 5 star, are let down by a mattress. Not here. We slept so well in such peaceful surroundings. The Barn is in a very rural location but it’s easy to reach other places as the main road to Norwich is only a short drive away.
Even the weather was superb too!
We would unreservedly recommend staying in Owl Barn. It thoroughly deserves the 5 Star Gold status that it has been awarded. No doubt the other accommodation options (Orchard Barn or the 2 rooms that are let in the main Tithe Barn for bed and breakfast as well as the Shepherd’s hut for glamping) are equally good.
The Barn welcomes pets and provides all sorts of doggy essentials. For those of us who experience cat withdrawal when on holiday the owners have cats too and 2 delightful dogs.
Thank you Jane and Lesley for sharing your little bit of Norfolk heaven with us!

Fantastic mini break!
Owl Barn was absolutely perfect! We stayed for 3 nights and took our 5 month old puppy with us who clearly had a whale of a time too! The location is great, you can get to the Broads and the Beaches very easily. The accommodation itself is completely spotless and has everything you need. We couldn't have asked for more. The attention to detail is amazing, we even received a little welcome pack for the puppy! I would highly recommend this property and we will most certainly be visiting again. Thank you so much!
