We feel deceived.
The host, Angel, was quick to respond via whatsapp, spoke some English, and seemed like a decent chap. The location was great up in the hills of Tetir, outside the main residential area with terrific views of the surrounding hills.
The checkin process was hassle-free, as we are familiar with Fuerteventura, but it did seem very odd that the host refused to send me the precise location of the accomodation until the day before we were due to arrive, which, if it were our first time on the island, would have caused us stress as we like to plan ahead.
We were shown the bedroom which we felt was rather dark and damp, and continued to be puzzled by this until we realised that three of the windows had been blocked up, and so the photo in the listing is very deceitful, the reality is not at all as bright and airy as the photos imply.
We also noticed that a lot of the furniture shown on the Vrbo website was missing, and what was left was inadequate.
Then the host told us he would be 'just next door' if we needed him. We thought that would be handy, but he did not mean 'the house' next door - he literally meant 'through the next door' - i.e. the owner was sharing the villa with us, albeit through a different entrance and using different rooms!
This, again was not mentioned on the listing, and as our number one priority for this holiday was isolation, this was a massive concern for us.
But it got worse.
Not only did the owner have a dog (I'm allergic to dog-hair) which, of course, was also not mentioned in the listing, but there was another big secret he was keeping from us too.
For the first 3 nights we were hearing strange banging noises, doors, and furniture, but it didn't seem to be coming from the owner's rooms. Then in the mornings we were repeatedly awoken at around 7:30-8am by more banging of doors, some of which occured when we knew the owner wasn't even around!
Then one evening, someone we hadn't seen before came all the way up the driveway, up and around the back of the house, and then disappeared through a back-entrance.
It turns out there was yet another person living in the villa (hence the blocked up windows for privacy), and so what was intended to be a holiday home of isolation ended up being a house shared with the owner and a lodger (both of whom had their own guests!) while we had the dark & damp bedroom with lack of furniture.
Having believed we had found isolation, we were deceived.
