The best thing about this place is the host Edwin. He really goes above and beyond to help you out (including driving us to Suchitoto for free)! The rooms are basic but comfortable with a fan and very close to Centro Historico yet you feel completely safe when walking around. Breakfast in the morning is plentiful. The wifi works well downstairs but is very slow in the rooms. If I was in San Salvador again, I would book here for sure.

I needed a central place to stay for a week while doing some work around San Salvador. Edwin's house fit the bill. Edwin was very communicative from the start, and helped me out with anything I needed before and during my stay. For those who don't speak spanish, his english is fluent. There is WIFI in the house, and I stayed in a large room off the back with plenty of space to spread my stuff out (though it did get hot in the afternoon ... perhaps some kind of blinds to block out the sun's heat when out during the day). His helper Beatrice made me a great breakfast every morning. Edwin's mom was often at the table for a chat as well. The house itself is older, so don't expect a hotel-like experience. But I did have an indoor parking spot for my car! I will stay again on future trips to San Salvador.

Nos alojamos en la casa de Ali en nuestro paso por San Salvador y nos sentimos muy cómodos. Edwin nos busco por la terminal cuando llegamos y también nos acercó a otra terminal cuando nos íbamos. Conoce muy bien la ciudad y el país y nos ayudo a armar nuestro recorrido por El Salvador. La casa es muy acogedora y su mamá y su tía son muy amables y te hacen sentir en familia. También cuenta con un desayuno típico salvadoreño, con plátanos, frijoles, huevos y café.

Ali's Guest House was a good choice for me for a five night stay. I had a large room in the traditional house overlooking the garden with an extra bed that allowed me to organize stuff. Edwin was very accessible and we were able to co-ordinate to meet on arrival at the PullmanTur bus terminal. Location was excellent for walking, 10 minutes to central cathedral, 5 minutes to Mercado Miguelito. Breakfast is traditional and delicious. With Edwin's help and encouragement I managed to visit Libertad Port and Tunco beach and to hike the volcano, several times dropping me off near the bus stop as he went about business. I walked all over the downtown, markets, parks. My room with an extra bed was large and allowed me to organize my stuff. It is an older house, but the garden is lovely. I recommend Ali's Guest House for its authentic Salvadorean hospitality.

Ali's Guest House is ran by Edwin who is a really personal guy who speaks great English. We went to San Salvador for official business and found a friend for life. Although we stayed at an extension of Edwin's accommodations with Julio, next door, Edwin always checked on us to make sure are stay was going well. The homes are basic and not for the faint at heart. However, if you are on a budget and don't mind missing certain hotel luxuries, this is the place for you. Edwin offers tours and transportation from buses and the airport. We were unable to do the tours but other guest enjoyed them. We had great El Salvadorian breakfast made by Julio's wife. Both the homes are multi generation family members and both are very nice. When we were to move over to Edwin's home we opt to stay with the Rodas (Spanish speaking only) because we felt like we were with extended family. Kudos to Edwin for making a stressful trip least stressed. We will stay in Edwin's house next time and take advantage of his tours.

Staying at Edwin's place felt like family! The house is located near downtown and near buses that can take you anywhere in the city. Very clean and comfortable bed and room. Edwin have an answer to every question about the country and he even take the time to give you directions/tips to places to go. He is fluent in Spanish and English, which is very helpful.This is the place to stay in San Salvador!

Thanks to TripAdvisor I met Edwin and his guest house . I visited this guest house from 04 to 08 May this year . It is an excellent place to stay , clean, well presented and facilities for rest . The location is unbeatable, close to the main bus terminal and within 10 blocks of the historic center of this city , on an avenue leading to the main square. Thanks Edwin prontyo and I hope to return to enjoy the hospitality of your guest house and convsersacion with your Mother and Aunt .

edwins house is very nice. He is great as is the rest of his family/employees. Not only did i stay there, but I did the boqueron volcano tour which was a blast. Best part was he charges a very fair price. Highly recommend staying with him and taking his tours!

Edwin is passionate about his country and about showing travellers the best parts of El Salvador. Everything, from the free pick-up at the bus station (in our case at 1am!) to the varied traditional breakfasts each morning was designed to make us fall in love a little bit with this country and its people. This is homestay accommodation with a difference. We were honoured to share Edwin's house with his family and sleep in a lovely downtown neighbourhood. Each day we would go on a day trip or a city tour (free with Edwin if you booked 3 nights) and then return to a comfortable bed and free bottled water. Ali's Guesthouse is a definite must if you want to experience all the city and country can offer with a knowledgeable and friendly local guide.

I stayed with Edwin Carillos Guesthouse for four days and I enjoyed a lot! His family is very nice, the house/rooms are clean and have everything you need. And there is delicious breakfast! Edwin can give you all the informations you need about travelling around en El Salvador and he also can guide you to all the places you want to visit. I highly can recommend that place!
